I'm at work, but usually a bit bored. So I decided to install CM (01/02 3.68) here. As this PC is used for work purposes, too (what will they think of next ), I can't be hogging to much of the system resources (1500 Mhz but only 128Mb RAM) so I decided upon playing in the Italian C2A, with only Italy in the foreground, nothing in the background.

Don't know exactly what that does for the realism :/ but this game sure goes fast

One of my favourite games was the original Leigh Challenge (until Liverpool()), and it was played with a quickstart.

One League means fewer players and staff to choose from, but it's very playable.

Montichiari - 2500 all standing stadium, a patient chairman who expects us to steer clear of relegation this season.

Players look gash, but I got lucky by signing an old warhorse (35 years) of an assistant manager who also happens to be a none too bad AMC. No scouts or physios are remotely interested, no good players are to be had for the few nickles and dimes the board allows me to spend.

Now then:

It was on a misty morning with fair sailing weather when I decided to leave the port of Amsterdam on an old vessel called the '7 Provinciën'. I had boarded this old ship because...

What? Oh yeah :o

In short: we already crashed out of the C2 Cup. On with the season.

First game: away to Mestre. We play glorious catenaccio and steal 3 points courtesy of a first half long shot by my SC. Too bad we lose a DC on the 87th due to a red.

We're 7th.

The board was pleased by our first match. Good start

We sign some youngsters on frees.

Next match: Thiene at home.

An attacking formation (I switch often, just to keep the opponents on their toes ) sees us score two in the first half, but one gets ruled out. The second half starts with their goalie dropping a ball and my SC taps it home. The old warhorse gets tired after 60 minutes, so I replace him with an 18 year old, who promptly dribbles the ball into the goal.

3-0, the board are delighted and we're numero uno

Whilst my scout is desperately looking for a DMC (I need one, quick!) we play away at Pro Seste.

Back to catenaccio. A defender of theirs being sent off on the 20th helps The old warhorse dribbles one home on the 55th but crashes out on 60th with a gased leg that keeps him off for the next 10 days

Our gallant technical game carries the goal all the way. 0-1 The board are delighted, even if we're 'only' second due to Alto Adige overtaking us on goal difference.

OK, a short update, because it's so remarkable: after 10 games we have conceded a grand total of 4 goals :eek: and obviously top the C2A. Is playing with one league easier? Or is this a blip of incredible proportions?

Based on my experience of the Leigh and San Marino challenges I'd say it isn't easier to play with only one league. It's faster not easier, but that's all. Obviously you must be doing something right
