Has anyone been able to do this regularly? I have tried many times, and the team almost agrees to a $0 fee with a 50% sell on, but when I try and sign the kid to a youth contract it comes back saying he has agreed to terms with <original team>. He stays with the team on a youth deal.

Anyone been able to bring in youngsters?

I normally have the same problem but the moment they sign their first professional contract at 17 i usually can get them at a discount

Hardly ever.

You can only usually sign them when they're 17 and their full time contract starts.

check if the youth player has a pre-contract with his club. if he has u have no chance at all. if he has'nt then it's like a normal transfers chance.

After it happened to me a few times in row I thought it might be a bug, but I don't know.

Do you think it is just a case of the young player not wanting to move to another club at that age?

This is because most decent youngsters will have already signed a pre-contract agreement with their current team, meaning you can't sign them until they turn 17 and their professional contract kicks in.

I think in 07 it was to do with them having agreed a pre-contract which then prevented them from leaving their current club.

Yes, that is very well explained but I don't remember the specifics, just that it was to do with pre-contracts.

These players I am trying for have no pre-contract. They are on a youth deal only.

I'm not sure if you can actually tell if they've signed a pre-contract to be honest.

On their player profile hit transfer and it will say "Will sign a 55k deal on 1.3.2009" for example.
