Default Fatigue is always an issue

I would like to start a discussion as to why "World Class Players" are tired after playing only 2-3 games?

I always set my training to very light to light pre-season and during the first few games of the season. One would asume players of this calibre would return from holidays feeling 'rested' and at their level would surely be able to last more than one or two games before feeling tired.

I honestly remember this being a hot topic in FM2007 but I did not expect it to still be a issue in the new game. I am not sure how to fix this apart from resting at regular levels say one day after a match but in some cases the 'tired' issue is well still an issue, your thoughts on this for 08?

Cheers all

Light in pre-season? There's your problem.

Yeah as Serpico says your training is the complete opposite of what you need.

Players do come back rested, they also come back overweight and unfit due to not training.

Preseason always starts with intensive fitness training to whip them back into shape.

Yep. What these lads said. I whip 'em hard for 4-6 weeks, say from the time they report to camp until mid-August, with a training schedule that focuses on aerobic and strength training. Then I gradually let off, going to something halfway between that and my regular mid-season schedule for the last two weeks of pre-season and maybe the first match, and then on to my normal mid-season schedule thereafter.

I don't have the problem you're reporting.

One of things that drives me mad is that the top teams in the EPL always put out first teams in the domestic cups.

They dont seem to have a long term problem with fatigue/fitness.

Hmm. I'd actually noticed that as "causing a long-term problem with fatigue/fitness", at least on earlier versions (FM'05-'07). I always felt my squad did its best in the January-March window, while other teams were really feeling the fatigue brought on by overusing their star players.

Thanks guys,I always thought you should ease back into a training regieme but I will take on board what you have said. I must have been reading this wrong, such as they are tired as they are not fit?

Cheers all

Yeah - think of it more like "They don't have the fitness to last ninety minutes, so playing one match makes them tired."

For a similar topic with a bit more detail, see CM's getting tired - tactics problem?

You might also see In december I allways have a series of games lost, as I talk about when I lighten the training load, personally.
