In real life, there has been a "salary cap" used in both League 1 & 2 which limits the amount a club can spend on wages to a % of its projected income Post #31 | | Registered User

There is no salary cap that i can find - it isn't even really accurate to call it an agreement, because it hasn't even been agreed to by all the teams ("tentative support" was the highest level of agreement i could find)

If that was about Bradford being fined for a breach of the salary cap rule then I read that too and I wonder has it clouded my judgement on this.
I was sure that someone had been fined, but with the other information I have found, I must admit that it looks unlikely to be the case.

I did however find this on the Chester City website which does hint that there is a cap

The Football League have told the club that that our current wage bill exceeds the salary cap.
This may result in actions being taken to bring things back in line.

I can't find any evidence of a club getting fined so I don't know ehere I got that from. I'll have to dig out some old programmes from last season, but it appears very unlikely that any club was fined if it is a volountary agreement.
| I'm sure it was Boston who got into trouble over this. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I think Boston got in trouble for not paying taxes (cash in hand). And something to do with paying exspensives that didnt happen. IIR it was an ex Barnet player being paid cash in hand (not 100% sure).

In real life there is no way the two strikers in question would have been kept hold of unless they took large salary cuts (And I mean big)!
| I'm all in favour of S***hampton disappearing off the radar altogether.....
Brilliant, hope it happens in my game....

| I would, but thats the problem - the lack of reference to it anywhere including on the football league website (http://www.football-league.premiumtv.co.uk), which makes me think either it doesn't exist at all, or it is no way official
