Default A little story about my transfer saga!! Ironic

I bought a Dutch youngster from the Citizens for 4.1 mil, I keep loaning him out till he's priced at 9.5 mil (he's 24 years old)

Now the other top clubs want him, Milan comes first with a 12 mil offer with 20% next of sale, I stall but then reject it (it was non-negotiable and less than my asking price), the player gets mad and demands a transfer (which I agree to)

So far so good? well Barcelona and a host of other teams were also interested but I finally sell him to Milan for 14.5 mil plus a 40% next of sale (he was 13.5 mil at that point)

one year later (exactly) Barcelona comes and takes him for 35 mil!!! (yes pounds). He's only been in Milan for 2 half-seasons and his stats were 1 goal, 8 assists and 2 MOM

It's not like the first time that an AI team spends like crazy on a player, but dammit I had him priced at 20 mil (I took the 40% and lowered the price instead) and just after one year they spend that much to get him from someone else?

End of rant!! oh yeah and since I had that 40%, I got 14 mil of that 35 mil

So technically you got 28 million instead of 20. Surely that is better for you in the long run!

But thats what happens, generally a players value rises the better/closer to thier peak age they get. Its hardly unusual!

Well tbh i couldsee the price being so high because ac milan maybe know that they have too pay you 40% of it so then wouldnt accept any lower.

Also, regardless of stats, Milan would have demanded at least what they did, knowing that you were going to get 40% of whatever Barcelona paid. In order to recoup the £14.5m they spent, plus your 40%, they asked £35m. Barcelona paid it, and once your cut was taken out, they made £6.5m. Soooooo.......

Milan - Spent £14.5m - Recouped £21m - Profit £6.5m
Barcelona - Spent £35m - Recouped £0 (at present)
You - Spent £4.1m - Recouped £24.4m - Profit £20.3m

No problems there. Don't focus on the £35m, thinking you missed out. There was a reason Barcelona paid what they did. You've done pretty well from where i'm sitting.

If he was only there a year he would've had at least 2 years left on his contract, so Milan didn't need to sell him and Barca bought out the rest of his contract, ergo a much higher fee

Couldn't resist.

To be honest, future percentages are worth ALOT more than any amount of money if you're selling to a large club. Even if they don't play their value will rise because of the reputation.

That's why, if a mediocre Premiership side comes in with an offer for one of my average youngsters, I let them go for 50% future fee and I don't demand money. I'll eventually get more than if I risked letting them sliding down into the League 1 or even further.
