ok, i know this is an issue which has been done to death but i hoped that one of you experts could help me with a few questions (ideally without linking me to other threads!)

1) Is it possible to have multiple random background images which randomly rotate whenever you change screen?

2) Can you add to the default.jpg pic, as in have default.jpg, default2.jpg, default3.jpg.... etc. and the game will rotate them?

3) I do not wish to have player or club specific images when i click on those items, just a series of, say, 50 images which rotate randomly whenever i click a new screen

i have tried for many hours to get this to work, but it won't! I don't know if it is different for fm2006 or not? maybe you could tell me where im going wrong?

1) i have 4 pictures named 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg and 4.jpg which i have placed in CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\data\skins\metallic2006\graphics\backgrounds

2) i have looked at the global panels.xml in data\skins\metallic2006\panels and it already seems to say the right things so left it

3) i have changed various config files to what you say in your example at the bottom of the thread in the link you gave, but to no avail - which one should i change?

4) when i run fm2006, i have change background pictures ticked and use cache thing unticked - i am also running the metallic 2006 skin which is the default skin for fm2006

Any help would be great

I may well be wrong, but i don't think you put background pics in the \skins bit... why not go to \graphics and then \backgrounds?

Backgrounds should work whether they are in graphics or skin\graphics - they'll just only work with that skin.

Though with further testing, it appears in FM2006 you can not have rotating random images, you can only have images for set screens - club, comp, player, nation. Though you can have rotating random images for these, just not the default image.
