Default F.A.O. Dan Atkinson

Dan,

You gave a list three weeks ago of the PA ranges for players set with a negative PA in the editor.

I was just wondering: where did you get the list from? I've been looking for one for longer than I care to admit and yours is the first I've come across.

I'm asking because I'm slightly sceptical. The reason for this is based on something about which I may also be mistaken:

•Are Wonderkids players who, being under 21, have a PA of 190+? I realise there are other factors, including the status of the player's club, and the CA of the player - but, in essence, is it the case that they have to have a PA of 190+ to be a Wonderkid? I have stuck Francisco Ochoa [goalkeeper], Vincent Kompany, Felipe, Sergio Ramos [defence], Cesc Fabregas, Freddy Adu, Leo Messi [midfield], Kerlon and Lucas Podolski [attack] into my shortlist everytime I play the game - and they invariably seem to be rated as Wonderkids. That's at odds either with your list of values or the requirement of Wonderkids to have PA of 190+ - or the randomness of the determined number. Do you know which it is?

Many thanks for your time,

--Don

Dont put peoples names in thread titles please. Dan will not be very happy and it is also annoying. If you have a question for him it would be easier to email him

Michael is right. You can email me if you want however.

I can't remember the actual post I gave you but I did get the original values from here which were in turn from SI.

I can't help you with it because I can't remember anything about it right now.

I can understand the majority of rules you guys use in here - the one I've come across most frequently is "don't use text-speak". I can understand that rule. It bugs people - me included.

However, a "don't put people's names in thread titles" rule (and I won't make an issue of "michaelfoster"'s lack of punctuation) seems a little out. Your names are posted along with any message you send. I'm a new poster. I wasn't aware that I *could* email Dan. And, having glanced briefly over the window now - even with my foreknowledge - I struggle to find an obvious way of emailing him. Now, I'm sure it's possible. I'm just saying it's not obvious how I'd go about it.

The point of mentioning Dan's name in the thread was simply to draw his attention to it. Having scrawled through page after page - indeed, website aftre website - looking for the information, Dan's list was the first I'd come across. I wanted to be sure he'd find the thread. I understand that you don't want this site becoming a chat-room amongst members, but there is no easier - or, more apparent way - of contacting people who seem actually to know what they're talking about.

This leads nicely on to "it would be easier to email him". Again, there's no obvious way of doing that. Unless I'm meant to click on his name, - which is an idea which has only now occurred to me. I challenge, however, that this is an easier way of his fielding a question. Firstly, it leaves me not knowing how to email him, without some degree of consideration (which would suggest - at least to me - that it isn't easier than the method I chose). Secondly, it potentially leaves Dan with a large number of emails to deal with. Thirdly, it leaves the other board members unable to learn from my question - which would seem to defy the entire point of the board.

I think that you guys are eminently sensible - which suggests you likely have a good reason for the rules you try and follow. But the reasoning behind this one eludes me. Again, I could be wrong. It may be that I’m being daft. But the complaint seems unfounded.

Thank you Ozzie for the information you gave me. Again, though, I have to ask where the info comes from? I now have three different suggestions:

•That a -10 PA randomly configures a PA between 190 and 200

•That a -10 PA randomly configures a PA between 180 and 200

and

•That a -10 PA randomly configures a PA between 170 and 200

Regardless, your information was unboundedly more useful than the complaints I got from michaelfoster. And Dan, I appreciate you don’t memerise every post you write, so don’t sweat it too much. The link for your post is:

http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...2/m/9272016181

If you can give me any more information, please do. I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ll check out this thread tomorrow, or, alternately, you can email me. Apparently.

Thanks again,

--Don

You could just edit a set of players, say 10 or 20 with a PA of -10, then start a new game maybe 2 or 3 times & make a note of the actual PA ingame.

Should give you a rough idea?

Yes, because -10 is random number between 170 to 200.

Since the kind folks have more or less answered your question, I'll reply to your long reasoning behind the title of the thread! To be perfectly honest though, I'm looking at what I wrote and it's Greek to me!

I deal with quite a few of emails a day. Since 2PM, I've had 30 and I generally get twice that (although, to be fair, 10 of those are digests and email from Project Rockstar). The point is, one more email wouldn't hurt. I generally answer every personal email I get as a matter of courtesy anyway. Even if it's a short one to ask for something in MCFM.

The reason I don't I don't like personal threads is because, to me, it seems like you're closing out other people and only want one person, even when that person isn't the most experienced to answer the question. This thread is a prime example, because I could write all my knowledge about PA on the back of a fag packet!
