It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Yeah, I have to say that my observations on the D-Line weren't actually related to the affect of the D-Line itself, but it's optimal point within my tactics.

I think most of us felt that with the sensitivity and effect of mentality D-Line was best a bit lower than previous games, but following the patch it seems to me that defenders, if given a defensive mentality, will drop off a bit further. Therefore D-Line can be raised, but not because of any change to the D-Line setting itself.

I have managed to play only couple of games with Walsall and England (yes, I got England job as 31 year old 'rooky' in 2nd season with L2 team  ), but I noticed that long shots and free kicks are going in more often.

Cheers!

I personally haven't had any problems with conceding due to this- but I can sympathise with those that do. I think perhaps defensive line should apply at all times, but clearly the ex-players SI have consulted don't agree.
Nope. It wouldn't be a good idea. It would basically mean that the DF-line became superfluous. You would have to push up in every formation no matter what.

Besides - has anyone ever seen a team in possesion moving the ball around near the opponents penalty area, while their defenders stood watching in the middle of their own half? </BLOCKQUOTE>

That's a good point.

I agree with the second sentence too- sadly many critics in OTF seem to disagree.

So what you're saying Kristian is that we no longer have to compensate for ineffective defensive mentalities by using the defensive line setting? Good news indeed.

I'm saying that that's how it looks to me anyway!

It would certainly explain why low defensive lines were suddenly so effective.

I was getting major injuries and seeing many red cards, mostly from the opposition. Rather than play hardnose football, I was forced to lay off in tackling and closing down to reduce those things. So I got a handle on it before the patch.

Since the patch, I moved back to a more in-your-face pressuring style and injuries have been light. So to me, someone who was definitely seeing that stuff, it seems to have been sorted.

I still get some red cards. Nearly always when a team is down 2 or 3 nil, the losing team will go down a man. But I haven't seen the 2 and 3 cards like I was.

Without meaning to be rude, I was hoping for some observations on the match engine in terms of instructions rather than injuries and suspensions.

Have to say though that in my last game pre-patch I had 2 players sent off for violent conduct. I haven't had any since the patch, although I haven't played that many games to be fair.

Doesn't seem that way to me. I started a new game in hope and what do I find? By the time I've got to game 6, SIX players are out injured already, my keeper still insists on a pass to the opposition striker and yes - player sent off for violent conduct!

The game is fast becoming unenjoyable for me.
Its the way you play

Your tactics and training probably don't mix well if you getting lots of injuries. Your probably playing them too physical.
