Was defensive line changed in the patch (haven't got the fix list to hand)?
I can't see anything in the changelist relating to D-Line specifically, but I'm going on the basis that other aspects much have an interaction with it. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Could be the mentality tweaks I guess. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Absolutely seems that way.

Its a lot more sensitive now, so any single change you make is a lot more noticeable. So positionally now, the scale is a lot more profound, allowing you more control.

How do you find this relates to defensive line?
Because there is more sensitivty in the mentalities it effect how the d-line is played more than before now. Or what I should say is, people will probably think the D-line as been tweaked but its not, its just the mentality issue confusing people as it makes the d-line seem different. As the changes between 1-20 mentality are bigger than pre patch. So the defence and midfield mentalities now play a more prominent part in the d-line it seems, especially if they are very different.

There's a mass debate going on in OTF about the defensive line and how flawed/useless people percieve it to be.
Aye, its because many don't understand how it works thats all. It works fine imo, its just people dont understand what it actually does, or plays out like.
I think many have gripes with the fact that it only comes into play when the opposition has the ball in your half. When you win the ball and go forward, the defence pushes up irrespective of your defensive line setting.
I personally haven't had any problems with conceding due to this- but I can sympathise with those that do. I think perhaps defensive line should apply at all times, but clearly the ex-players SI have consulted don't agree.

Nope. It wouldn't be a good idea. It would basically mean that the DF-line became superfluous. You would have to push up in every formation no matter what.
Besides - has anyone ever seen a team in possesion moving the ball around near the opponents penalty area, while their defenders stood watching in the middle of their own half?
