It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I never read much into the shots on target argument tbh. so what if you have 18 shots on target? it doesn't mean the opposition has a super goalkeeper, it just means that the chances you had weren't taken fully by your strikers.

if i tap the ball and it rolls to the GK, thats a shot on target. it didn't force him to exert himself, yet its a shot on target.

heading the ball straight at the keeper is a shot on target. doesnt need a "super keeper" to stand still and catch a ball, does it?

How do you do this ?
Do you have MC's on pass to winger, and reverse? </BLOCKQUOTE>

No - I meant that my focus for passing is changed depending on the AI's formation. It really works well. For instance if the AI use a narrow formation where only FBs placed wide, I play down both flanks. I do the same if the AI swap to 4-2-4 or play with wingers.

My observations based on only 2 games.....it may not count for much.

Defending
If your instructions and player selecting methods are sound then its easier now to keep a clean sheet than before. I'm not saying its easier to win...oops we just scored a goal..I'm watching my game on my other comp while i type this out.

Ok back to the subject...I tried this out: I played a diamond back four.Thing is my side is far inferior to all the other sides in the premiership, so I set it up with 3 DCs and one DMC, two defensive minded outer mids and two rampaging central midfielders...one targetman and one speedy. As it turned out, defensively I was sitting back and chomping on my cigar as the the AI was kept at bay resorting to the long shot on goal. When the AI does that I know for a fact that my tactic is sound, cos it has decided that the long shot on goal is the best option.

Did I do anything different, pre and post?

Unchanged:
My defensive line is still at the same which was mid 11...my team attacking mentality still the first notch of attacking, tackling easy

New changes:
Closing down...this time I set my whole team except for the DM and the SW on closing down of 14....this is an experiment, but I still get good results.

Attacking
Same logic as prepatch...the more variety of shots on goal, the higher the chances are you will score. Nothing has changed here except...for the fact that there are more goals for me vs prepatch

The first thing I noticed is that all my defenders are $hit now.

Starting to wonder if I downloaded a different patch to everyone else, went from having the best defence in years pre-patch to now where I fear a goal conceeded on every attack.

It's not actually as bad as that, I still get clean sheets but the patch has resulted in sooo many more close calls in my defensive third, consistancy and stability has went bye-bye.

I seem to have turned into the new Kevin Keegan post patch, I've got the most goals for and close to the most conceded in my Bognor Regis game, my most recent results, have been a 5-2 win, a 3-2 defeat and a 4-2 win. Also hardly a game goes by with 22 men on the pitch at the end of the game and I only play with Normal tackling.

well if your team is playing so bad, and you give them a right good seeing to or your ass man dose this at half time, then your players will go out determind to win, if they cant win the will lose there temper and thats why you getting a lot sent off, if things are so bad and moral is low you cant punish them with fighting talk anymore, the only thing to do is encourage them.

I noticed when ever im losing baptista gets sent off, hes a bad loser on this game
