i'm currently coaching Newcastle Utd. I have found it difficult to score goals in matches
I have developed my tactics after reading some very interesting discussion in this forum. But still, my tactic doesnt really work out...
i'm wondering if i should set individual mentality for each outfield player or stick with the team mentality.
my tactic:
Team instructions:
Mentality 12
Creative freedom 8
Passing style short (+1 notch = mixed)
Tempo normal (+1 notch = quick)
Width wide (-2 notch = normal)
Closing down 13
Down both flanks, run onto ball
individual instructions (4-2-2-2):
DR, DL
mentality 10
creativity little (+one notch = mixed)
closing down often (-one notch = mixed)
forward runs, cross ball often, deep
DC
mentality 6
creativity 2
clsoing down mixed (-1 = little)
all rarely
AMR, AML
Mentality 12
closing down 12
forward runs, run with ball, cross ball, byline
MC 1
mentality 14 (attacking)
creativity 16
closing down 12
run with ball, long shots (hv never seen emre taking any long distance shots), through ball, hold up ball
MC 2
mentality 10
creative freedom normal (-1 notch = little)
closing down 16
forward runs, long shots, cross ball (all rarely)
SC
mentality 16
clsoing down 12
forward runs, run with balls, cross ball
SC
mentality 18
clsoing down 12
forward runs, hold up balls
Seriously, if you want people with lives I'd leave this forum pretty quickly. But thank you for your constructive criticism, and I'm sure you'll be receiving an e-mail very soon outlining our project to significantly increase our lives (possibly by as much as 32-36%) over the next few months.

The thing I usually look at first when looking to score goals is my passing (and related sliders) followed by width.
Your mentalities look logical and should help a bit, though perhaps a couple of screen shots or pkms would help you to see whether it's the positioning of your players that's the problem. Mentality may also cause players not to shoot when they should (too low) or shoot when the pass might be the better option (too high).
I would, for Newcastle, perhaps experiment in upping your passing length and passing tempo, particularly away from home or against larger teams. Perhaps the problem is that you're trying to be patient at a team that would be better off exploiting the opposition on the counter-attack. Newcastle are a good Premier League side, but they're not what I would call a guarenteed UEFA Cup team. In which case, the opposition should still come at you, allowing you to try the counter attack.
Hope some of that helps, but like I said, analyse your games to see why it is you're not creating many chances/not converting many chances.
newcastle arent the most techinical team, so i duno whether the settings u used are best. Anyway, regarding scoring, it can well be down to ur creative freedom and individual mentalities.
Try the following;
for every subsequent line in ur formation make their mentality have 2 difference. example Defenders 8, then DMC 10, then MCs 12, then AMCs 14, then FCs 16. Now if u dont use any DMC then u might have to change it a bit, or at least lower ur MCd mentality slightly more.
Creative freedom, this makes a huge difference, and really depends on the players u have, but generally i dont let the attacking half go above 13. the higher u have creative freedom the more likely they do wot they want and not score.
Forward runs, keep all the most attacking players on often, or at least the same setting.
This encourages ur team to move together and be more compact.

Warned, in future either post contructively and sensibly or I will ban you. You are the sort of person we do not wnat on these forums. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Cleon, i'm new to this forum. I've been registered a few weeks now. I've saw many comments such as the above that have overshadowed an actual thread and thus, turned into a full slagging match. It is for this reason that i tend to refrain from posting. I spend hours on this forum reading and absorbing other folks comments. There are many comments that have given me a greater knowledge of Football Manager and indeed have made me a better virtual manager. I have nothing but gratitute to those people that have posted constructive comments that have helped and encouraged me. My point is, people who post comments such as "Get a life", without any just cause to do so, should they not be banned straight away for their total lack of respect? Indeed the original post was another forum member and fan of FM requiring that extra piece of info to push them in the right direction. A perfectly honest and innocent post started by someone requiring assistance and another forum member without justification responds with "get a life". Totally unjustified response and i feel personally that banning folk that make such comments would make other folk think twice about posting such ignorant responses. Anyway....apologies for taking this post slightly off topic.........

 youre right mate i dont see why some people sign up to the forum to slag people off.
i mean we all come on here to get better at FM and pick up tips aswell as to help other people, not to abuse other people.
to me the people like alimdemir who come here and slag people off are the ones who need to get a life

The point is that you just posted an insult and didn't help anybody. It was neither funny nor needed. If you think that a thread is pointless (and I must confess I read some and roll my eyes) then just leave it.
Then again, I'm sure you knew that and love the attention.
Now, this has ruined a perfectly legitimiate thread. Let's get back on topic.
