Hi all,
After literally pulling out what little hair I have left (I have really struggled with Tactics on FM07) I have come up with a bit of a Theory relating to the tactical system which was probably/possibly devised by SI/Ray Houghton.
Basically, it goes like this....
The 'Sliders' all have a rating between 1-20 Inclusive. To this end, I would suggest that the pitch is actually broken down into 20 Sectors from top to bottom, and 5 Sectors from left to right. (Imagine an MS Excel document, 20 cells tall and 5 Cells Wide (5 Cells Wide is that is the most positions you can have horirzontally). I suggest you open up an Excel Document and map the pitch out so that you can see what I mean..
This at least gives us all the (in principle) the framework in which to base all of our other 'settings' such as 'closing down', 'passing' etc.
Basically my thought process is this :
For example, a DC with normal closing down of '10' would mean that he would only 'close down' his man when the ball entered this sector of the pitch (which is located on the edge of the area based on the 'Grid Theory'.
If a DC had passing set to 7 for example, on the grid theory, he would be looking for his midfielders.
The same principle works with other the other settings I believe too, but as yet I have not tried many formulations. I can say this though - my performances have definitely improved since I adopted my "Grid Theory".
I would definitely welcome your thoughts and experiments with this - I feel sure Im onto something with it!
Regards
