Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Tight Marking & Weather Conditions

Tight marking do people use it? I currenly have none of my players with tight marking not sure if I should maybe use it for my defenders.

Also my game with Liverpool towards the end of November practically all of my matches the weather was wet which did seem to effect my short passing game. Do people change things for wet conditions such as increasing my passing?

Weather is really important, you cannot play a short passing game in wet conditions it doesn;t work too good. I always add long shots to players if its wet and seen the keepers and players make a few mistakes doing this

I am no tactics expert in any sense but i have found that having zonal marking with tihjt marking can be quite effective but i dont employ it for my more attacking players and playmakers as this gives them more space.

I dont tend to look at the weather conditions before the game which is probably not very good but I believe that some people like to employ a more direct passing style if it is bad conditions.

I hope that this has been of at least a little bit of help

If I have the players for it, then yes most of the time.

Can i ask what positions you use tight marking for, is it just for defenders. Also when you say if you have the players for it do you mean if the players have good marking attributes?

In all my days, I have never seen the weather have any effect on performance. The other team has to deal with it too so it balances out.

As for the tight marking question, it is simply a matter of ability. If your player has high marking skills and is hard working then I would go for it. Select tight marking at your peril for players that lack the ability to carry the instructions out.

then you have never took notice of a wet game as its clearly visible. As for the opposition its the same, thats true but they do make changes so if you don't you can find a slump in Nov-Feb especially. A lot of people mistake this slump for re ranking too, when in fact it can be caused by weather SO it only balances itself out if you counteract it too, if not they get upper hand.

Depends what I want from a tactic, no point using it on attacking players if I don't want them to track back etc.
