Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Home team bias in .02.

I have been playin 07 since release dat pretty much apart from waiting for patch.01.(unplayable beforehand imo). Anyway I played a game with 15 countries with all leagues running the usual big ones and a few little. Iplayed this game till 13/14 season and was very succesful with all teams I managed(8) at many different levels and challenges. I got used to you could say, to the strange occurances and crazy violent behavior problems with .01 but i managed to enjoy it quite a bit. When i decided i wanted to run some different comps and have some new challenges I thought i'd install .02 cause it did look as though they fixed a few things. And they certainly did, but a few others i'm a little bemused by.

It's only been a few days and i'm still in first season with 4 teams. I am delighted withn the fixes not as much angle shots my fav. But there seems to be a constant home team catch up on. I have seen on multiple occasions now home teams come back in the most bizarre fashions mostly from my players defying all instructions and making monumental mistakes, or not doing anything at all.(ball watching is still infuriating). Now in saying this most things are possible in RL and i'm not really complaining just wanted to see if anyone else has spent time plaing .01 and went to .02 and noticed the smae things. My tactics have always been pretty sound in most occasions, and am a vetren of this game CM2. And im also a firm believer in all thibgs come down to tactics in this game. Please help guys i need some advice to change my way of thinking about .02 away games im struggling.

Yep this home crap has ruined this game. I'ts makes absolutely no difference who tha AI controls either. Just had a 2 long shot 5 finishing midfielder score 3 rip snorting goals all from 30 yards+ and it happens all the freekin time. This game is absolute garbage to try and play like actual football. I have no idea what the logic beghind these decisions were. Im totally bemused as to how you thought we may like this. NEWS FLASH !! most veteren players HATE this game. You only have to play a few games and the deficiencies are so apparent that it can only be explained as a greedy buch of buttwipes that are more interested in money than making a reasonable product, if there was a govening body issueing you guys with standars you woudlnt have been able to sell this game.

I dont by any stretch think this would be easy to create and i give you credit for trying. But lets be realistic no other version of thgis game is as despised as this one. I love the fact that its hard and tactics yes will win most games, but jesus christ u didnt have to make the AI be able to pull it out with really bad players. FFS we cant!! If i dared to have the audacity to do some of the things tha AI does i'd lose every game 10-0. It's gotta be hard to do but you had it right in 06. What went wrong? Money money money ty very much SEGA really appreciate it. The game is crap, Great cause its the only one of its type but if there was a half decent alternative you would be in HUGE trouble.

I'm not alone here. And yes home teams usually do play better than usual but not even close to what you obvious football officianado's think they do. If football was played in the way you guys have deemed it, NOBODY would watch it. Or not away games anyway. And ive had enough of people defending it. If anyone can say honestly that this is football then they are as dumb as you! I dont mind losing at all guys in fact it adds a lot to the game, but not getting cheated out of games with insanely obvious cheating by the AI. you can see it as plain as day. It'll be late in the game you are winning away all end game tactics to hold out and cover players which happens YES. But then you can see it guys your players all start playing like the local under 9's while the ai turns all your opponents into a 70's brazilian team.Peect long through balls that look as though they are on fire annd no defender watns a thing to do with it. And then the officials(what a joke, yellow for a punch lol dumb dumd dumb!)

If my fellow players havent noticed this thay are lieing or playing a different game. I have never seen a more blatent cheat within a game. Dumb nerds think that ai cheating is gunna be fun WTF, do some weights get fit and go and have a game of football, you might pick up some ideas! Like how the flight of the ball works and that watching the ball doesnt make it do anything!!I have loved this game for many years and dont want it to get easier. I simply want it to beat me fair and square. I have never seen in over 28 yrs of playing and watching the beautiful game defenders do the things they do in this game.NEVER! sure they make mistakes but not the way you guys have deemed they do. Winning a home game one wek 7-0 than travelling to last place and getting smashed 5-0 by a team that hasnt won in 15 games and the entire team wants out basically. No imagination and no idea about football creates such things.

Wow! I'm not so angry or bitter about it, but you are right 4-2-4. The wool has been pulled over our eyes in this version. In order to rid the game of super-tactics, I do indeed feel that a certain over-compensation mechanism has been programmed into the game. I agree too that it is very difficult to win away from home. FAR too difficult. 06 had a wonderful balance to it. Unfortunately, this version is way off the mark. I can only hope that they realise this with the release of 2008. And I also think that SI are as audacious as the fan boys who claim the AI got 'smarter.' This is nonsense. If the game continues down this path we will have a chess game, because this game does not replicate football I'm afraid.

Either am I art. I just lost it today like a 10 yr old. Sorry to all who have to read my tyraid. This game is my fav game by such a long way. Just a little hard to accept at times. I recind any and all nasty comments to all concerned. If I didnt love it i could easily snap the disc and continue on playing something else.

Do I. NO! I suppose i just need to e more patient and wait till second season when i have a team of my design to play my tactics. And i'll just put up with it. And in future no more foruming when mad! Promise

I do agree with the discrepancies between home and away form. There's an overly large advantage to the home team imo, more so than irl.

Definitely too big of a home advantage, this does work both ways though, however, still needs to be fixed.

Biggest deficiancy with home / away in this game is if you get to a cup final.

I find if I am drawn as the what looks like the away side (i.e right of the screen) in a cup final that I rarely win. My record in Sweden is won 0 from 2 in Sewdish Cup as the away team and 0 from 1 in the Royal League Final as the away team.

Wondered if any one else had this issue?
