Default Raspberry Does Scotland - Albion Rovers

Ahh, yes. Another Raspberry challenge. I felt like an English challenge, but having done England before, the next best thing was Scotland.

I don't know too much about Scotland, other than they once had a tyrant ruler named MacBeth in a play written by Skakespeare, insults about Scotland can be found here, and that a LLM moderator happens to live in this place, described as "hell" by Dr Samuel Johnson.

Being an LLM game, I naturally chose a Division 3 side, under the name of 'Albion Rovers'. I have a fondness for teams named 'Rovers', so they seemed a fitting choice.

Albion Rovers: a semi-professional club, with a 2496 capacity stadium (538 seated) named Cliftonhill in Coatbridge, adequate training facilities, and E7000 in the bank. Very average overall.

Staff will need to be increased dramatically, even if it means getting rid of a couple of players. We only have one scout, one coach, and an assistant manager. 35 players are officially in the squad. Each position seems to be covered well, and almost all players seem to be under 26, apart from one old codger on crutchers.

The board merely expects the club squad to be improved this season. This means I will only be expecting to at least finish a couple of positions above last place.

Two promotion spots are up for grabs. Relegation is not an option, which I am thankful for. The board isn't expecting anything too flashy, but I sure will want to have a good crack at promotion, even though we may end up not being anywhere near as good enough. The squad will have to be used properly.

Game information:

- One foreground league selected (Scotland), three background leagues selected (England, Wales, Northern Ireland).

- Euro Dollars (E) will be used as the currency.

- I, manager of Albion Rovers, have an Australian nationality.

If Found Albion tough nuts to crack. Took me 5 to get out of Divsion 3. Found my glass cieling somewhere in Div 1... almost made them Prem around 12 seasons in.

Enjoyable career though

I remember an internet game a while ago in scotland with me being berwick and the other LLaMa (whos name escapes me)being montrose. It was pretty fun.

Actually the new trend are teams with alphabetical superiority ensuring a few months at the top of the table guaranteed. I'm sure Aalen will be the next club chosen.

This thread has created much interest, and I am barely past September. Quite surprising, since my other two careers didn't attract much interest.

I've always played with an Australian nationality, and yes, I think it definately does put me at a disadvantage, but I don't mind the extra challenge that comes when you're a foreigner.

It's pure coincidence that I picked Scotland, I can assure you.

Yes, Scotland does seem to be a great league, and a good alternative to those seeking a newer challenge but retaining some of the English layout.
