I agree. Who are Kettering anyway? Who do they think they are eh? You show them who's the boss....and it isn't Tony Danza!

Keep Up The Funky Stuff.

I've only just 'got' the title of this thread...and especially after the Eddie Grant thread as well that's pretty slow.

KUTGW!

Season 05/06

Another season over, and an improvement on last season, as Bradford Park Avenue climbed to the dizzy heights of 7th. Our poor start to the season cost us dear, as 20 dropped points in the first eight games – and all four losses were against sides that finished below us. Of the remaining eight games we lost over the rest of the season, only two were against sides that finished above us – lost points that could have seen us in top spot

I think I have been carefully assembling a young, keen squad who, if they come out battling next season like I hope, should be there or there abouts and challenging for the title. A couple of new signings and a couple of Bosman’s have made their way to Horsfall Road, including an AM RLC from Aston Villa and a DC from Arsenal. I have sold some of the reserve players, with some careful negotiation, to teams much higher up the league, and the bank balance following the close season update is close to £600K. My full complement of scouts are continuing to look for the best of the youth players around, and I’m still trying to keep the over 30s in the squad down to a minimum.

The Conference lost Lancaster, Chesham and Northwich Vics to relegation, and Halifax to the third division. Replacing them are promoted sides Moor Green, Accrington Stanley and Yeovil (back after three seasons out), and Huddersfield, relegated from the third division.

We had a good run in the FA Trophy, beating Margate in the 2nd round, Hereford in the 3rd, Bedford in the 4th and Southport in the semi-finals before losing to Halifax 4-1 in a replayed final, after a 3-3 draw first time around.

It’s looking good, so I am hoping for a good start to the season and challenging for the Conference top spot. The board just want to stay clear of relegation.

Looking good BB. Promotion from the conference I find is a very tricky mistress indeed.

Rep is 70th in England and Average

I think I managed to get so many scouts because with all home nations running, there always seem to be Welsh, Scottish and Irish scouts interested. I only have got one English scout :p

A quick mid-season update sees Bradford Park Avenue currently lying third in the Conference six points behind Southport and three behind Dagenham & Redbridge. I just hope we can keep going and stay in touch, as the last game of the season could be the title decider - we are away at Southport

Out of all the cups now. Reached the third round of the FA Cup by beating 3rd division Doncaster 8-1 away  , but lost 2-1 away to Peterborough. Lost to Morecambe in the FA Trophy 2nd round, and 3-1 to Oldham in the 2nd round of the Vans Trophy.

Our ex-Torquay, Hartlepool (I think) and Burton Albion striker, signed for 30K is scoring well as is our 20 yo FLC and our AMC signed on a Bosman from Ross County - between them they have got 47 goals so far this season. We also seem to be a bit more competitive this season, and the SC has obviously been watching Mike Tyson, as he is up for a 3 game ban for a wonderful left hook

The team must be improving as bigger clubs are coming in with bids for a lot of the youngsters, but I intend to keep them, if they want to stay.

One final push is now in order - fingers crossed that we can keep in touch with the teams above us

Uncross your fingers and rest easy.

For the first time since becoming a LLaMa I have managed to guide a team out of the Conference. And to make it even better, next season we take R&D's place in the third division.

We clinched the title against already relegated Moor Green, which meant the game against Southport was irrelevant.

Goals have come from all members of the team, and three players notched over 20 goals each. The push to the top of the table was sustained at a gradual pace, and once we got to the top with about eight games to go, we didn't give it up. We haven't bought a player since October, and all my regular first teamers and promising youngsters are happy playing for the club.

So now it's off to crack the champagne, or as we're in Bradford, it had better be a barrel of Tetley's
