My first foray into LLM - enjoying life in the island sun
If you're gonna dip your toes in the water, what better place to do it than Lanzarote? Nowhere? Thought so. So that's what I've chosen as my team (I use that term loosely) for my first try of CM the LLM way. CM has started to bore my lately, so I needed to try something new to keep interest.
Anyway. U.D. Lanzarote in Group 3 of the Spanish Second Division B have four or five decent players out of a squad of 24. The rest are, to be blunt, useless muppets. And they're pretty old to boot, with an average age of just over 26. Starting with no money, two scouts, a 9500 statium with 4000 seats and adequate facilities. This is gonna be just great.
My board expected a brave battle against relegation. Come to think of it, so do I. And if we, by some miracle, manage to escape it, then that'll be one of my biggest achievements on CM (yes, I'm not very good at it. :p)
First things first. Scouts, the two of them, are sent out. One will scout the next opposition, the other youth players throughout most of central Europe (we can tour Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Portugal, so I assume he'll move around them as well as Spain itself).
Looking into the transfer kitty, I noticed something strange. We're just over 100k in the green, yet I can spend the double on transfers. Hmmm. Noting that, I looked over the transfer-list and made offers to just about everyone and the grandmother, but I managed to bring in only four players before the transfer curtain and the start of the season for a total-value of £150k - all rejects from better clubs and thus shoved down to their B team as well as being listed. One defender, two midfielders and a striker. I also loan in a defender and a striker before the season starts.
I feel that I've now got a reasonable striking pair and a good-enough defence. My goalie is the best player on the team (however, his understudy is utter shÃ*te, so he better stay healthy). My concern is the midfield, though. It seems not up to scratch, but we'll see.
(My apologies if the updates are or will be a bit on the long-side ... that's what you get when a CMSer go LLM, I guess. )

My first foray into LLM - enjoying life in the island sun Post #2
Well, this is getting beyond ridiculous. Played seven league-games. All seven of them ended with the same outcome. No, not a win. And no, not a loss either. After seven games, we hover just above the playout line with a record of 0-7-0 and a GD of 5-5. And my fears of the previous post seems funded as it looks like our strikers just don't get the ball. Four of the seven games ended 0-0, and in the four 0-0 games, we had a combined total of ten shots.
However, I've weary of tinkering too much with the formation as we don't lose either. And if we can win a few games, 50 points shouldn't be out of the question, and then we should stay up with relative ease. Then again, we don't win games without scoring either. I suppose I'll just wait a while, and if we start losing I'll need to make some adjustments.
Okaydoke - I wasn't sure how you guys viewed those (they're useful in CMS), so I just edited it down to just show our placing. That takes up much less space.
