Default Playing the non-LLM way

I think those people who will be playing CM4 the non-LLM way should be penalised. For example when a 15 year old starts up the game and becomes manager of Man U, the whole backroom team should resign citing "Total Lack of confidence in new Manager". Probably all the first team players would show as unhappy " Lacking confidence in managers ability" until the manager can demonstrate that he is capable. This is what would happen in real life and should be reflected in the game. Proper LLaMas would be OK as they take over crap teams without any large reputations.

Would be good to see increased media pressure for an inexperienced manager at the top.

We all remember what happened to the baldy Spurs manager a few years back; he was a virtual unknown in England and paid for it, even though he was no worse than some other managers at the time.

As it happens, he is doing very well with another club at the moment.

I know, what I meant is he didn't really get the chance to show what he could do in England, because he was an unknown and the media really pressurised him. Or maybe he just couldn't handle the media.

Either way, it would be nice to see some media comments if you were in a similar position in CM4.

Robbo makes a very valid point actually, it would be an easy to implement feature that any manager with a unknown reputation managing a top club would come under severe pressure from fans and media.

Although this would be harsh on any newcomers to the game it’s easy to forget what an immensely difficult game it is to anyone who’s not played it before. I gave my copy of cm97/98 to a mate of mine, he supported liverpool so started with them, he struggled to get thru the first season without being sacked! Maybe a difficulty level setting would be an idea!

Personally I’ve been playing CM since CM2 and have a reasonable understanding of football tactics and how the game works so taking over a top club at the start of the game no longer interests me as it would be too easy and quickly become boring. I don’t do it as I know I wouldn’t enjoy it not because of some moral LLM code or desire to brag about winning the prem with leigh or whatever. I actually started playing the game with the club I support as do 99% of people I imagine, if I had supported Man Utd I’d have started with them.

I can just about remember my first few games with City the first three ended in relegation dog fights and eventually me being sacked. I got better though and now getting them to premiership and into europe is a piece of ****.

The thing is in the Real World TM players do become managers of big clubs, Vialli, Sammer etc.
I was wondering if they could make you design yourself, you get a certain amount of "points" and assign them to your stats as you see fit. If you fancy 20 for "working with youngsters" have it but you would have to be lower in another stat. Perhaps you could have less points to spend if you wanted to be a LlaMa?

I'm sure this'll sound stupid when I re-read when I'm sobre!

The Vialli and Sammer arguement doesn't hold up, alkie. Both were highly respected players, by fellow players and the media, and wasn't Vialli some sort of Player's Union Representative?

There's a monstrous difference between them getting a management job and some totally unknown, non-football backgound plurk like any of us getting it.

I had this conversation with someone at work ages ago, I was sure there must be at least one who hadn’t but I couldn’t come up with a single name!

I think the only manager, at present, who hasn't played at league level is Dario Gradi. Laurie MacMenemy was another who never played league football. Dario Gradi got his job working through the coaching set up and Laurie was a PT instructor in the army and got a job as a fitness coach before becoming Asst. manager and then manager. I just feel that the players in the game should make a much bigger issue of a manager's lack of reputation. IRL the players at Newcastle finished Ruud Gullit as the most influential players had no confidence in him and the club could not afford to lose all those players.
