Default The Meet Miles Event (Liverpool)

Hi Guys,

Not long got back from Liverpool and the Meet Miles Event. Interestingly enough he refused to tactic or player tip as he had been requested not to on the boards... might that have been me?!

For those who haven't tested it or played the gold demo, this will be of great interest. For those who have, there maybe a few tidbits.

International management has been much improved Miles said, though programming issues meant nations still don't have proper coaches, scouts etc. Miles couldn't show it as in his demo he had managed Newcastle for two months and wouldn't have got a national job. (The end of starting as a national boss?)
Also, you can now manage ANY country in the world that is in the game. International LLaMaing can now begin in earnest.

I asked if the teams who play in the FA Cup, Trophy and promoted to the Conference will still be from the Ryman, Unibond or Dr Martens Premier. Miles answered no, it is now possible for any of the non-league teams to play in any of the competitions. Maybe I can finally get to play as Newcastle Town.

The 2D match is superb, and changing your tactics makes a great difference. He illustrated this by playing a daft formation for five minutes and the players did as Miles said. However, any tactic tipping was firmly out of the window when Miles was humiliated 4-1 at home by Chelsea.

The finances are far more realistic, many club chairmen and executives were consulted and there are a lot of teams in debt, some in administration and Miles said it's likely to get WORSE as you get into the game. Even Newcastle have a massive bank loan, though they do have plenty in the bank and 30 years to pay off their loan.

One thing Miles said isn't in the final version is the ability to praise and criticise players by your accord (damn), saying it was delaying the game by another three weeks or so for the sake of a slight improvement. This will be in the first update.

Finally, Miles seems to be a thoroughly decent bloke.

Any questions anyone wants to ask, feel free and I'll do my best to answer. Within LLM rules of course...

At first look this thread seems like a bad idea, Nobby. There's a lot of scope for abuse and not a lot for valid questions.

However, I'll let it run meantime.

Don't worry Iajafer, I'm not going to answer anything that breaks LLM rules.

One thing I forgot, the level of noise from the crowd depends on the size of it... Miles' Newcastle game had a loud crowd volume, he said small teams would have lower levels accordingly.

Knees up mother brown!

I would like to know a fewthings about the actual event.

1) was there actually any other LLMers there?

and 2) How many people were there in total?

1. Not that I was aware of. Though I did have a wee smile when Miles said he couldn't player tip. A bit like that one.

2. Around 50-60ish. Including 3 females.

What I'm looking forward to is seeing how the finances are at the real crappy teams - i.e. Scottish Div.3 and Welsh teams.

I always thought it was a bit dodgy you could get in 20/30+ players on £200p/w and the board wouldn't say anything, hopefully now this will be a bit more realistic.

I think it was King Jeff the other day saying the finances are now a bit more tough, anyone else found this from playing the Gold demo?
