I know I didn't start in the Conference, but ive started there at the beggining of the game before but struggled
so the lowest I normally start off at is the Second Division (That's why I chose Oldham because they were an average Second Division team). I thought that if I managed in the lower leagues later in the game I would have more experience and would be more succesful (Which is working so far as i'm currently fourth with only seven games left!)
When I get CM4 i'll start off in the Conference

Moving to the conference after being at a higher level is slightly easier than starting there as your manager reputation is higher and generally there tends to be a few more free agents floating about too.
Nice table. Congrats on the 10th place position btw, if only you had the foresight to change the club name to AFC Gateshead you’d have been first placed and been promoted.
