I consider division two just on the line for being LL. Division 2 will be a good starter league, so you can get into the way of LLM. Hopfully you will be back in a few days time stating in the conference.
I was mentioning in another forum that advice from Taipan and Nobby's Billericay tales have converted me completely to the LLaMa way of life. So when CM4 arrived yesterday I fired it up and picked Woking.
500-1 to win the Conference?!?! Challenge is a word I didn't really understand until last night. I'd played in the LLs in previous versions of CM and like most of the experiences I've read here, after a couple of years my sides were playing in Europe. This however will be vastly different. I have cr@p players and nobody wants to know me.
I have decided that the only way to succeed is to get my club on a strong footing financially. With the current financial climate in football, this is easier said than done. First rule of thumb, my wages budget is too high. I've decided that I will not exceed 75% of the total budget. That way, if I'm close to the drop zone or the promotion zone I can splurge for a body to get me over the line.
Second thing I'm looking for is the ability to "flip" players. Find players I can quickly turn around for a profit. I think that will help my balance sheet if I'm lucky enough.
I intend to spend a year or two consolidating my club financially before I start making a push to get into league football. With Woking, I think I'm fairly lucky in that to date my best players (we've been dismal) have been younger players and two of them are averaging high 7's. I can build around that once the money situation is under control.
It is a tough slog, but it is good fun so far! I'd be curious to see if anyone else has come to the same conclusion that you need to sacrifice results in the short term to get your financial house in order.
I think we also need to remember there's not so much 'bailing out' in CM4. This was why I wouldn't consider even a Div 2 club in debt LLM in 01/02, because within 3 months you'd be given £10M to spend and cleared out of debt.
Muss I'm with you on this one. 2nd div with crushing debt is a helluva lot better than Northwich Victoria with no debt but also no money to spend either.
Having said that you have to start somewhere, I started with scunny in CM3 recently, which is not strictly LLaMa either.

There's a jury  <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
We have our executioner, so there's some form of jury - so what if it's a kangaroo court
