2007/08
Torres - Italian Serie C2/A
This was one of those seasons where every player signed turns out to be utter rubbish, as my board and fans eagerly reminded me, and no matter what tactic I played would result in a poor performance. I couldn't help but feel that even the games we did win, we really didn't deserve to.

Never dropped into the relegation zone but flirted with it all season. In the end i got so frustrated with the team that i left with six games left to go, leaving Torres sitting uncomfortably close to the drop.

St Albans - Blue Square South

I joined St Albans with them in the drop zone but with enough games to comfortably save them from relegation. The bored gave me a contract till the end of the season with a promise of new one subject to survival.

I did more the just keep them up and managed to put together a run of 4 games unbeaten, to gain survival with 2 games to spare. Despite struggling, the squad seemed good enough to only need a few signings to make them good enough for a push on promotion in the next year.

2008/09
St Albans - Blue Square South

I decided to keep the contract short and sign for 1 year (a decision that will come back to bite me), as I didn’t want to tie myself down to much.

Started the year well, losing only one out of my first seven matches to put us up their early on. The season was one of ups and down, and the early season form soon died, with the team dropping to mid-table. I managed to work out what was going wrong and tweak a few tactical problems and got the results flowing again. This raised the team to 8th where we remained for the last 11 games, and eventually finished there.

The Board, expecting a respectable league position, gave me warning through the press that they weren’t going to renew my contract, which left me disappointed. I saw this as a league finish to build and hopefully do better then next year. I resigned a month after the season and began looking for a new job.

Finish: 8th out of 22
F.A. Cup: 2nd Qualifying Round
F.A. Trophy: 3rd Qualifying Round

2009/10
Margate – Blue Square South

Margate were newly promoted and without a proper player to their name, i.e. non youth/grey player. I expected the first season to be one of consolidation and survival but the bored was expecting bigger things, with a respectable finish. Signed a one-year contract so I could easily move on if need be.

Started the season off amazingly and went the first 13 games unbeaten. The team was sitting in the top three and I began making plans to hold a play-off spot. Unfortunately the brilliant opening run was quickly off-set by the 17 games with out a win that swiftly followed it.

Although the results all in all were poor the team didn’t sink like a stone and managed to recover in the last third of the year to hold at 8th for a long period of time, but not before a late season crash killed off any play-off hope and dropped us down the league again. Fortunately by this stage we were already safe.

You would of thought I’d of learnt my lesson with St Albans and signed a longer contract…well you would be wrong as I was again informed that my contract was unlikely to be renewed. I decided to leave after the last game of the season.

To say this annoyed me would be an understatement.

Players In: 15 (2K)
Players Out: 4 (18k)

Finish: 15th out of 22
F.A. Cup: 3rd Qualifying Round
F.A. Trophy: 3rd Qualifying Round
Satanta Shield: 1st Round

I Spent a month looking for the right job, turning down German Amateurs left right and centre but settled on and signed a two year contract with Solihull Moors. The deal clincher being a large sum of transfer funds to availible to me.
