Ok, I'm in the Year 2012 and just took over ManU in January, they're 20th in the Premiership when I took over. Yes, 20th in the league with players such as Rooney, Tevez, Anderson, Nasri, Carrick, Hargreaves, Craig Gordon, Ustari, Evra etc all in the prime of their career.
Now I'm not trying to argue whether it's realistic or not they're in relegation fight with that team.
I took over mid-January. Since then I've wont 14 out of 15 games with them. 10 in the league, 3 in the FA Cup and 2 in CL. Only game I lost of 1-0 Away to Chelsea. They're now 15th in the Premiership, still very much underachieving but I gotta say I've done pretty much everything there can be done.
Yet the board is still disappointed with me! Come March, they're considering not offering me a contract extension. That's completely ridiculous, come on, they have to look at the result which I achieved. I dragged them from 20th to 15th, now I know the minimum expectation they have for the season is that the team challenge for the title. But no board in real life could be dissatisfied with my records. Considering the state when I took over the team.
I never really noticed this problem before and I guess it's probably pretty rare, how many times do teams expecting to challenge for the title end up battling for relegation in the first half of the season. But I do believe the Confidence AI needs some adjustments.
Completely agree that this is stupid. It doesn't take all things in to consideration! For example on match confidence I was Gateshead and got to FA Cup third round and lost 4-0 to Arsenal. It was virtually an empty bar on confidence, what did they expect?!?!

Are you using any of the beta patches out of interest?
i bougt fabregas for the hefty price of 80m (40 upfront rest over 12 months) and he was injured in first league game, despite fans been really pleased with him in pre-season, because they haven't seen him play recently they are becoming unhappy with my transfer dealings! despite aguerro being on his way to cult status, poulson becoming a hit, and fernandez is impressing.
I've been wondering about the confidence too and how daft it seems to be.
I'm in my 2nd season at Portsmouth - board expectations are safe mid-table, yet having won 6 of the first 9 matches i was second in the EPL and won manager of the month, yet the board said I was under achieving (even though I exceeded expectations in the 1st season by winning the League Cup and getting to the FA Cup semi). Another thing I've noticed is I can go on a good run that involves beating Man Utd and Arsenal yet they'll still be complaining about a poor result 2 month's previously - even if it was away and most of my side was out injured or on int duty (african nations time) and I had to field reserves or youth players or players out of position.
BTW this has happened with out of the box and both beta patches.
Just an update, I was sacked in April I lost to Liverpool in FA Cup semi-final. Now I know they're arch rivals but in real life someone who takes over a club in trouble, go on a 13 game winning streak, then lose one Cup match DO NOT get fired.
How in the world do these confidence work. I'm suffering from the damage my predeccessor caused. Basically anybody they hire now is just gonna get the boot too come end of the season since obviously he cannot achieve the seasonal expectation.
Also the board said they expect the team to win Premiership within 2 seasons, I'm fine with that. The problem been they only given me 3 months...
The Board AI is a bit flawed, I went unbeaten for 42 league games ( 37 in one season) before losing to Liverpool on the last day.
The board did not renew my contract until 2 days before it was due to expire. It caused issues for me because I had requested a contract over a month before and I didn't want to sign any players and then find out my contract wasn't going to be renewed.
They also were unhappy with my performance in the league cup because I went out in league cup QF. THe fact that I one the EPL, CL and FA cup didn't seem to over-ride there dissapointment
