Omnislash I think if you could help SI and help us post this in the bugs forum and upload a save game if you have, that will be great.
Hopefully that helps SI to solve this problem for the full game, it is certainly a game breaking bug.
I think a quick fix for my problem is to implement the feature of the board changing their seasonal expectation when hiring a new manager. This change of seasonal expectation is of course based on the team's performances.
For example, Spurs IRL would probably had the seasonal expectation of getting into Europe. Right now it's most likely getting a safe mid-table finish.
What I suffered from was exactly that, the Board expected the team to challenge for the title, the team is doing so badly when I took over and they still expected me to challenge for the title that season. Definitely need fixing.

Seeing as how I can tell my board what I expect to achieve in the league, why can't I tell them that I plan to play weakend teams in the League Cup and don't give a rats arse about it? If we can set our own expectations for one competition, we should be able to for all. And why do my board constantly moan about failing to win the Community Shield? When was it considered important, and why would they care when I'm 14 points clear at the top of the league?
Like I said, it's good that confidence is being expanded, it just needs a hell of a lot of work.
I believe the new 27 MB or so beta patch solves the comm shield problem.
I was in 09/10 with Portsmouth. I was expected to get to the LC 4th round and the FA 5th round. I fell short by 1 round on both occasions, but by losing 1-0 at chelsea and on penalties to Liverpool, no disgrace I'm sure you'll agree......yet my board are disappointed!!! Crazy
I also hate that "back up " players can be considered bad signings, they're back up for flips sake, they're not supposed to be playing on a regular basis!!(especially hate this with loan signings)
The one that's annoyed me is that I was required to get to the quarters of the JPT. Which I did and lost. However, according to the confidence I only reached the 2nd round when expectation was quarters. The board are unhappy with this which is real annoying.
