Off topic but, where is the fix list by the way? Also I have noticed the confidence thing seems pretty messed up, I have the board moaning all year about a early Carling Cup exit ffs. Have yet to try a game with the 27mb patch so hopefully its sorted.

Not sure which build of the beta I have. But the board isn't happy about my placing in the competitions entered.

I won the Carling Cup
I'm still alive in the Champions League
I'm still alive in the FA Cup
I'm third in the Premiership, 7 points behind the leader, with a game in hand (only two losses though).

I shouldn't have told the board my goal was to win the league. Oh well.

When signing Henri Saivet the fans' happiness was "still waiting for him to play a few matches" but shouldn't they take into account the prospect of a player not just the current ability?

The AI is completely unintelligent. This should have been the focus of the game instead of concentrating on pointless things like computer graphic faces.

The board should be able to gauge how you are doing with respect to how much you have spent, how much budget you have to work withing, performance of signed players LONG TERM, and how far you have got in competitions BASED ON TEH QUALITY OF TEAM YOU HAVE PLAYED!!

At the moment FM08 is full of ill-thought out blanket reactions that will cost you your job for completely unrealistic reasons.

When Leroy Lita misses a sitter, I don't think "Oh well, he's has a chance of being good one day," do I? I think, "He's 23, he should be scoring those, let's hope he leaves in January"
however, it's not enough for me to want a manager sacked, and if there are any fans who think that, I feel sorry for them! However, unless it is a 20 year old, I won't think he's one for the future unless he shows flashes of brilliance, at least.

Also check how well players are playing in the reserves/youth team, because this could have an effect. Fans do watch these games, and will judge youth players on the times they do play there.

It's great that we finally have the confidence feature expanded on, but it just doesn't work properly.

Seeing as how I can tell my board what I expect to achieve in the league, why can't I tell them that I plan to play weakend teams in the League Cup and don't give a rats arse about it? If we can set our own expectations for one competition, we should be able to for all. And why do my board constantly moan about failing to win the Community Shield? When was it considered important, and why would they care when I'm 14 points clear at the top of the league?

Like I said, it's good that confidence is being expanded, it just needs a hell of a lot of work.

Fifa manager is more expanded like that where you tell them how far you think you can go in every competition and it alters the fan expectations and money you are given. Deciding whether you think you will make it to the 5th round of the FA Cup or the semi finals is too far though, you never know who you are going to draw.

I do agree that telling them you don't care about the league cup and will field weaker teams would be a nice addition, perhaps if you could set a priority level for each competition or something.

I have faith that the confidence problem will be largely sorted with the first proper patch, I'm sure it will probably be a tough tightrope to fix completely though.
