The point I am making is for some reason software developers in general ( and i don't just mean SI) think it is acceptable to release a game before it has been tested fully and is 100% complete. We the general public are then not only treated as unpaid game testers but actually paying for the privaledge. Perhaps we are to at fault because
a) we accept it and do nothing or worse still moan about it but carry on buying their games.
b) Are unwilling to pay the price in the shops or on the net that would allow game delevopers to pay people to to test the product out for us.
What is the answer? Because at the moment it seems to me we are slating people who no doubt are doing their best week in week out to make great games, but haven't the resources avialable to make sure things are perfect
"Perfection comes at a price"
There is a big difference to being able to see whether a texture is in the right place or whether your rts men are moving to the right place in the screen that it is to test every possible combination of things that might happen in FM. Obviously, as far as could be seen at the time, the game was ready to go out, and if you think about it i bet as much game time elapsed (by people playing at home) in the first week of sale as happened in the entire time si was working on the game - you must be talking tens of thousands of hours, which makes it unsurprising that new things pop up.
I've not exactly been pleased with the shape the game was released, however I must say that the SI team has mostly responded to our criticism. And it's because they are willing to listen to us and correct their mistakes (granted it takes a few tries, but atleast they do it, unlike some other game manufacturers)
I saw their improvements in the 07 patches as hard evidence for their dedication to solve the problems. And that is mainly because I bought the game (that and 07 had awesome playability + they promised me new exciting features(I wouldn't exactly call them exiting as few work atm) and I will most likely buy the 09 game too if SI sorts this out with a patch.
Personaly I'd rather they delay the patch until they are 100% satisifed and all bugs have been removed and all features tested, instead of releasing a half-assed patch that does nothing much other than fix a few problems and cause a lot of new ones (which the beta patches has done, although they did improve some parts of gameplay)
Keep working SI and ignore all us ranters that has nothing better to do than to whine. Frustration is best vented on the internet (without harming anybody that is)

well, it's obvious to you cos you noticed it, if you see what i mean - I'll bet there is something else which no-one has yet noticed, at some point someone will discover it and say "how did they miss that" even though the thousands of hours of gameplay that had passed to that point hadn't made it visible.

Finland is in the game ?!?!
Seriously, there are some obvious things that should have been spotted, but the weather patterns in Finland wouldnt really jump out to most people..

Actually there is a law that covers it...
its called the trade description act and states that any product sold has to be fit for the purpose intend!!
Correct

and as SI are releasing a patch then it is clear it is NOT fit for purpose
I'm just astounded at those who defend the SI staff here. They are professionals. When the manager at your favorite club benches all the star players, starts his 8 year old son in goal, and plays a 0-0-10 formation, you'd criticize the hell out of him and call for his head. What's any different here? They did a **** poor job of testing the game and hardly made any dramatic improvements. It's almost like they spent 8 months editing FM 07 just to give it bugs, then slapped 08 on it and released it.
Unfortunately, SI is just another video game company now, putting no effort or innovation into their new games because they know they don't have to. They take no pride in their work and they might as well merge with EA so they can produce garbage year after year together.
And these are the same companies that complain about piracy? I have no sympathy.

£30.00 is an extortionate price for a product that is miles away from satisfaction, and light years away from what it claims.

In the words of Sir Alan Sugar, "if a customer uses their own time, too switch on a computer, enter a website and vent their frustration at a product/service you know there's something wrong"
isn't the point of a demo to try and search out and eliminate any problems ? Perhaps it should in future be released a full month before the game so Si have enough time to consider any problems or bugs that have been found and get rid of them for the actual game. There's no need to constantly release new patches. If the game release date is pushed back say be a month, I'm sure everyone will be fine with that so long as all the bugs have been removed.
