Concern for the researchers or whoever responsible
I'll make this short.
Portsmouth has a blance of £57m, while Real Madrid has a balance of £34m. Seriously, SI, give the researchers (or whoever responsible) a kick in the bottom. It would be more realistic that Norway would declare war on USA within 5 years and win, than Porthsmouth being richer than Real Madrid. I'm not gonna go on the data issues forum and complain there, because this isn't a data issue, it's sheer madness.
I could come up with more examples of super-rich clubs, but I'll leave it to this. Yes, I know they have a rich chairman and the like, but come on, eh?

But it is a data issue, and it should be in the data issues forum.
And you're only mentioning balance, which I presume is bank balance. I seem to remember Real being hundreds of millions in debt until last year when they sold their training ground, or something like that. Don't forget that their outgoings are massively more than Portsmouth's, and it's entirely possible they operate within an overdraft rather than in credit while Portsmouth have a bit of cash to throw around due to their owner being rich.
Doesn't seem that wrong to me, at first glance.

That was a few years back, but you are right.
The orginal poster is making the mistake of seeing this far to simplistically.
The banmk balance figure is just the cash reserves at the game start, not actually any long-term reflection on how rich the club is.
The figure is based on a whole host of factors, and while it may seem odd, it'll be normalising by the end of the first season.
Think of it as a time-specific snapshot.

Dave C - do you have any idea what £60m balance can do with the budget adjustment feature? With £60m you can easily request more money for wages and/or transfers, which means that you again can adjust your budget, and can buy your way to the top in 1 season.

No, as a researcher and tester of several years, I have no idea how the game works.
Balance is not the same thing as transfer budget. You can't just shift money out of your bank balance, the board make those decisions.
Go on, you go take over Portsmouth and post screenshots showing how you bought your way to the top inside one season. I'll wait...

A few years back? Seemed like a month or 2 ago. Where's my life gone? </BLOCKQUOTE>
Late 2001 I think, or early 2002.
The council basically let them sell off their training ground to wipe out a 200m Euro debt, then gave them a new one at little cost!

Just to let you guys know, We signed a F****** $1.2 BILLION contract with MediaPro. Let me say that again... $1.2 Billion... No way in burning hell does Pompey have more money. Florentino Perez was an extraordinary business man and Caulderon is an even more impressive one. I want to know what the heck you researchers do if you all supposedly don't just play the game. If they really were fans they would know something significant like that. WTF LOL.
