I think they should completely re-write this entire section of the game.
It is presented so poorly, despite what effect it actually has on your job security.
The statements made are too specific and often pretty random compared to the position of the club. They are also non-responsive to context as mentioned above about small clubs losing to Champions League gargantuans and subsequently being complained at for months.
Whether this affects your job security or not doesn't matter, it should be presented better.

The fact they reminded about it every month for the rest of the season was a bit out of order so I'd like a 'Beat board to death with blunt object' option in FM09.
Finally, an ultimatum we'd have a chance of succeeding at?
"Demand that the board not mention our F.A. Cup defeat again!"

As I believe has been said before, the board summary lists the thing with the highest bar, and the thing with the lowest bar.
Unless absolutely everything you have done is above average, there will be something negative listed. It will have no effect on your overall performance, and, for the board to be mentioning it for nine months only suggests that you haven't done anything worse, which is surely a good thing.
That's .. interesting, I hadn't actually noticed that.
Maybe a change to that, alone, would make a major improvement to this module?
If it were, instead, "The two things we care about the most," ... surely that would be a lot more useful information to present?
That could even differ from board to board - with one board focused on league performance and Champions League performance, a second focused on finances and league performance, and a third caring mostly about qualifying for Europe no matter how you get there.
what is really disappointing is that the board doesn't really give us the praise we deserve. In my opinion, I've noticed that they would rather remember the bad things we've done rather than the achievements we've made. Its been like that since 06. Its a cruel world I guess, so I just get over it and praise myself instead.
A great one I had was as Woking, I won the league by 24 points and both the FA Trophy and the Setanta Shield.
HOWEVER! My final pre-season friendly was about 4 days before my first league game, so I decided to rest everyone and give the reserves/U18s a go to see if any of them looked good. Turned out I lost 7-1 at home to Cork City, and the board went on about a friendly loss for the rest of the year. :p
