I'm playing Chester and just got to League 1. I run lots of friendlies and fitness trainings before the big season ALL THE TIME. I pay close attention to the boys to make sure everybody gets a piece of the action and all of the seniors are fully fit for the big season.
But I've noticed that some of my boys, and occasionally almost all of my boys, would run out of gas and hitting lower than the 70% mark even before half time. They are fully fit, I never start anyone below 90% stamina, and yet they get exhausted half way through.
Their stamina rates are alright ranging from 10 over. But they seem to blow off their steam real quick. Especially the AMC. I always have to sub my key AMC cuz he's just so winded.
Then when their is no game being played for the whole week, they just don't recover fast enough sometimes, despite the fact that my training is just below heavy.
Do I need to change their engines, or they just need an oil change? They are all fit, but just can't last that long. What gives?
your giving them too much to do in pre season.
i only give my players 5 friendlies and then the most any one player plays is about 270 minutes.
another possibility is your expecting them to do to much running in match with arrows and forward running all over the place.
personally i run the same training in preseason as i do through the season.
a few notches below heavy for the over all training.
check out your players thouughts on their training. some maybe upset at the high intensity, tehn you'll know to drop their physical training.
pennant is a lazy git and will always moan. problem is that they dont come to you with their concerns merely content to wallow in their self pity in the hope that you will notice
Mentality - more attacking = more condition consumed
Forward Runs - more = more condition consumed
Arrows - more/longer = more condition consumed
Closing Down - more = more condition consumed
Player attributes:
Stamina - more = less condition consumed
Work Rate - more = more condition consumed
Natural Fitness - more = condition comes back quicker between matches
Weather:
The worse the weather is, the quicker condition gets consumed in match.
Training:
Obviously, heavier training causes condition to come back less quickly between matches.
The idea behind "intensive pre-season training" is that you should be able to boost the players' Natural Fitness and Stamina, and thus improve their performance throughout the year. You adjust back down to something more middle-of-the-road as the season approaches, so that you "maintain" but don't try to increase their fitness.
