In the booklet that comes with the game, it says that a full guide to the editor can be found on the FM CD, but I can't find it anywhere!

Apologies for this. The manual goes to print a long time before the game comes out (due to localisation) and we were therefore unable to remove this line when no guide was placed on the CD.
The editor has not changed massively since FM 2005 however so if you have the previous version of the game the editor guide that was on the FM 2005 CD will be of some help.

Most of the stuff is obvious, it is just the few additions that need explaining sometimes.
