Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default I am turning into the Tinkerman

into my 3rd season now with Sunderland, doing well in the premier league but since the start of the season (16 games in) i have become obsessed with changing my tactics. I have 4 tactics i use depending on home or away -v- opposition, which i think is OK, but during the game i am constantly changing the team instructions and player instructions. I think at the rate i am going i will send my players mad with confusion. Is this normal to do or am i becoming all claudio

I also have 4 tactics and ususally start with only 2 of them and use the other 2 to either chase a game that I am not winning or close down a game which I am winning- I have even been likened to the Tinkerman in the game! I think that as long as you dont go over the top with tinkering it can be a big advantage to adjust your tactics in game as the real Managers do.

1 tactic is enough, but changing it to suit the match is very important, once you have masterd this, your not far from sucsess
changing the team positions on the sliders in the correct way, is perfectly fine

I mean positions on the team sliders. but also some instructions like fwd runs mixed this and that will help or not help at certain times in the match, thats when its your managers role to decide whos doing what.
In other works a few notches here and there wont make ur tactic fail just because you changed somthing, drasticsly going from 1 extreme to the other will.
I think going from a 442 to a 424 could increase in-stability, but late on in a match the harsh change in style might confuse the opponent long enough to make a come back.

Using more than 1 tactic is not reccommended as it does confuse players, as they don't get time to learn 1 particular formation. I can't understand why you use so many tactics if you change instructions in game anyways? Just stick with the same shape formation but change the instructions depending on who you play and whats haeppening in the game. This way you keep the same formaion and just change instructions to suit the game you will be playing.
