Yes i agree, i have played as Arsenal for years with fm, and i have never had a striker who could out rate out score Henry no matter what settings hes always been the man, I got Klose for 14 million for the first time, i set him as target man hold up ball low mentality like cleon said, fwd runs often, run with ball mixed, long shots mixed, thought balls mixed, cross ball rarely.
Hes out rating henry at the moment, Henry is on 20 games 22 goals 8 assists 8 motm 8.33, and klose is on 22 games 19 goals 11 assists 10 motm 8.54.
these rating's are really high compered to the rest of the team, hleb is on 7.65 and the rest are pritty normal 7.30 area.
So fast striker target man combos are defo in!

I'm still interested in this...the settings that Fq mentioned here...do they work for everyone...I would think that there would be 2 distinct ways to play a targetman, and in some formations like the 541, the targetman can be a real problem
When mucking about with a 541 with my rather pathetic team..I discovered something using a 541, if I set up my targetman's mentality to be at least within the same band as the midfield pack behing him it created something quite special.
The TM kept dropping deep holding up the ball while the whole midfield came up to support him, he'd thread a ball to the winger and the MCs would come in to score. Very Very Nice.

My six foot-four target man (Nacer Barazite) almost doubles as my playmaker for my Exeter side- he is my main assist provider with flick-ons (supply to head, passing through the middle). Both have the same mentality- although Barazite is set to forward runs "rarely" whereas his pacey partner is set to "mixed" forward runs.
Direct passing too.

Another thing is passing.
When i played with big men as bazarite or zigic( passing to head), should i give my wingers direct passing or can they stay on short passing? And one more thing. Why ( i don`t understand) targetmen should has lower mentality than second FC? Shouldn`t he ( targetmen) be last on the pitch? ( so higer mentality) Please explein me this. Thanx for any answer!!!
Best regards

In general and very much pre-patch I think: Target Man can not play deep enough! Mentality can be as low as 10 - currently I've got mine on 12 and that is max. Also: Forward runs should be rarely (the striker position ensures he will also reach opponents area).
I don't use a TM for games I dominate, but they seem to tear apart big teams that push up.
Two reasons for the low mentality: 1. Pre patch the mentality slider is not as sensitive as it used to be. 2. Off-Side is much better in FM07, than it used to be. Strikers mentality should generally be lower in FM07, or your frontmen will constantly be drawn off-side (if the opponent push up, that is).

| The second FC is usually a quick player with good dribling, first touch, off the ball and anticipation. When the target man drops deep, he can flick the long direct pass on for the second striker (playing shoulder to shoulder with the back four) to run onto. This is a very handy way to get in behind the opponents defence, because if you just play direct passes from the back four, the ball more often than not, just go out for a goal kick (unless the surface is wet, cause then the ball stays on the pitch, and you can benefit from a different approach (It's a great game isn't it?))

Guys
Thanx for any answerd
I have great striker - it`s arsenal player nicklas bendtner. So i read yours opinion and give him this instruction:
1. FR- rearly
2. RWB- rearly
3. TTB- mixed
4. Crossing- rearly
5. HUB- YES
His partner Vela ( great player btw) has this instruction:
1. FWR- often
2. RWB-mixed
3. TTB- rearly-
4. Crossing - rearly
My question is: it`s my instructions to bendtner are correct? It`s big players with great heading, strenghts and jumping, but has great pace and dribling atribute. So how to set up this guy?
Here is : Nikolas Bendtner:
Any helps?
