It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Would you mind posting the team and player instructions you used to develop this style of play? I would love to see a good one-touch system that was actually effective with the big teams in Europe.

what do you need to know, we already said to get 1 touch passing you just set it between 1-3 and then depending on how aggresive you wanna be with ur passing set ur tempo between slow and normal, its that simple!

i have 2 creative mcs who also have defensive dutys so are a fair gap away from the next player, now my quiz is if there on short passing about 2-3 would they attempt the pass anyway or would they not pass, and run into space which is what i want, i dont want them to pass just because its an option, i like to see them run into the space then pass when they cant get any further, i was always tought this in school always run into the space then pass. So any ideas how to get this to work with 2 mcs would be cool.

Yeh cleon i should be picking it up now, i have played this game so much it should become second nature before long, my back ground on fm/cm, its quiet embarrasing really i have played nearly every version but never had the patiance to sit and make a tactic, i was more a download tactic and buy good players type gamer, in the last version i had a quick go at making a tactic but got frustrated and its a bad and good thing but i downloaded a tactic, bad thing is it was so good i never had a tactic like it before it won me everthing, and the guy who made it tought me a lot, the good thing about that is he has give me insperation this time round to make a tactic otherwise i would still be downloading and picking players, now football manager isnt the same for me i cant belive all this stuff i have just missed out on for years.

Sorry for the speach but i think its owed for the help i have recived to explain a bit about my back ground
If you are playing with two defensive cms it is always advisable to play with advanced wingers or an amc or two to link the play with your forwards esp if playing a short passing game

forgot to add a slightly higher tempo is needed too as otherwise
the defence will just sit back (as you have already eluded to)

Yeah... the needs to be the right distance between your different positions... too much distance, especially with the short passing is risky...

in my 4-4-2, i play with one dm, one cm and two wingers, in my 4-5-1, one dm, 2 cms, and 2 wingers.

Hi there , i have some questions for short passing . I like short pass and i love my team to play with it but there is one thing always happen to me is that whenever i play with a strong team . eg : Chelsea , man u , arsenal ... I always don't get good result . Is it to play direct football better then short passes if you are playing with a strong team ?
What if i have a strong team ?

Better teams have better teamwork. I too have problems with this short-passing-quick-tempo setup against supposedly better team than me, particularly in Europe. (im using Celtic). What i tend to do against stornger teams is change the mentality, defensive line and few tweaks on each players (also note it should suit to your players more than to stifle the opposition, again thats my opinion. No use to tell your full back to mark Ronaldo when ur fullback only has < 10 marking)

Changing the mentality and such, it does effect my style of play (quick and crisp pass to feet football) a little bit but you can't expect you to play "arsenal-esque' all the time right..
