just a quick note on something that i seem to have found...
im playing with Aston Villa, with a formation that has defenders, a DM, two CM's an AMR and AML and a lone striker. in the first season 9up until Febuary) i played an attacking mentality, and i was conceeding more than i should and was drawing a half the matches i played in. (not too unlike real life haha)
switched to a defensive mentality and saw my total shots stay about the same, but my shots on target improve. i seemed to be creating slightly less but better quality chances!
anyway, this post is longer than i orginially planned already,
so in short... i switched to a defensive mentality and i've won more games than when i was playing with an attacking mentality!
The best tactic is not defensive nor attacking in my opinion. I have a fudnamental style of play of short and quick passing but the mentality i vary it from games to games.
I do believe defensive tactics works good as much attacking tactics, depends on your team capability and the opposition. My current setup (my default attacking mentality, 13-17) struggle against better teams (check the odds before the match) home and away. I change mentality slightly defensive and it works in a sense that i dont get battered. I never lose against stornger teams if i set defensive mentality. 1-0s and 0-0s mostly.
As cleon, rashidi, Fuss etc tend to say.. you must tweak your tactics every game.
