Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Getting tight marked

After viewing one full match of my Man Utd team against everton at old trafford, I realised that my strikers and AMs often lose the ball just after they recieve it. I also noticed that all of my attacking players are getting tightly marked by the opposition. Thus, I had very little chances of penatrating and scoring. After the match, I only had 40% crosses completed and 51% possession, which is rather pathethic considering the match is at home.

Does anyone know what tactical changes I have to make so that my players have sufficient room to get deep enough to shoot before getting tackled?

Try playing wider, give your players more creative freedom up front.

If you have players with good pace and off the ball then use a targetman upfront as well, he could create a few flick ons.

40% crosses complete is huge!?

I'm lucky if I get 15-20%, and I suspect most people see the same kind of result.

Maybe slow the tempo (increase possesion %) and increase creative freedom for front players (better movement, therefore harder to mark).
