It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

You definately can#t have the same tactics for home and away.

I am still tinkering trying to find a solution to the away game mystery. The effects from home games to away games in FM is unrealistic at the moment.....seems that you can create the same amount of chances away from home as you do at home but scoring does not occur at anywhere near the same levels. I just had an away game with 59% possession, 14 attaempts on goal 0 on target. It was boring watching it as I knew every shot was going to be blasted over the bar.

Basically make sure your away formation is counter attacking in set up. Keep it defensive, don't commit too many forward. Your away setup needs to be able to create fewer chances that are better quality. If you go gungho you might win a couple of games but in the end I will guarantee that the goals will dry up. I have just finished a season with the follwing stats.

Home - W13 D0 L0 F35 A3
Away - W6 D3 L4 F14 A11

IMO to much of a swing home and away in the game. At the moment it feels like turning a tap on and off. Win 5-0 home, lose 2-0 away and then you can win 6-0 at home. Pattern seems to repeat itself through out a season.

at the moment i do have a home and away tactic. but most of the time i only make one tactic then change some settings according to how the match is going. the basis for creating home and away tactics is simple; i attack(use high D-line with play-offside and increase the mentality to 15) at home unless i am not favourites to win-then i would use the the away tactic and i counter attack away (decrease the D-line to normal and decrease the mentality to the first knoch of attcking) unless unless i am huge favourites-then i would use the home tactic.

I do that too but do you guys make different formations for home and away too?

Cause I play 4-1-3-2 a lot but it seems to offensive sometimes for away matches. but I heard changing formations is a wrong thing to do.

i personally dont change formations (i use a diamond 442). you can reduce how offensive your formation is by reducing the number of forward runs or by using barrows or you can change the formation as long as its not too different from the 4132 formation you are using(i have used different formations once and it doesn't make too much different however you have to give the players more tome to adapt e.g i dont know if you have ever used the TTF RoT Creativo set but the formation changes as you go attcking/defensive).

you can still change the formations however make sure there is not too much difference in the positions your players take on the pitch in the 2 different formations e.g you can use a 442 formation together with a 442 diamond.

yes, you can change the mentality whether away or at home(abviously you can be more attacking at home than away). hint: just because you are away does not mean that you cant play attacking football especially if you are heavy favourites.
