The most decorated team in French football history are back where they belong, among Europe’s elite. A remarkable decade seen l’OM, as they are known to all, scale the very heights of European football and plunge to the depths of ignominy. Days after becoming the only French side to win European premier club tournament, the UEFA Champions League in its first final of 1993, Marseille were involved in a bribery scandal that saw their then club president Bernard Tapie jailed and the club stripped of their championship and relegated. Fighting back through the 1990’s, the club clawed their way back to the top flight and even made the UEFA Cup final of 1999. A creditable performance in the Champions League a year later may just be a taster of what’s to come with the latest talented squad.

FM07 Team Information
After the sale of the much coveted Frank Ribery to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munchen, Marseille have been left with a fairly depleted squad. The additions of rising star Jacques Faty and the audacious Djibril Cisse have seen fears allayed for now but a real lack of depth and cover in the forward positions could leave them vulnerable over a long gruelling season, especially as they push to make an impression in this seasons Champions League.
And with the likes of Lyon looking more intimidating each season, you have a real challenge on your hands to take I’OM back to former glories, GOOD LUCK!

Summary:
Really looking at this being a LONG term FM so ive decided to spend most of my cash on youngsters and try work with the squad i have.
very pleased to have got the loan signings of Lucas and Anderson, (best friends in the centre of my midfield aww) rapidly ran out of money without making too many impact signings, which is worry. Looking into signing Nakamura purely for the finance but already he seems to be too expensive and the board have refused to make any more money available.
2 games into the season:
Lorient 0-3 Marseille
Marseille 1-1 Lyon
thats about it for now...hope there a few more of you out there playing with the mighty I'OM!
i'm playing with lyon mate but anyway the best of luck
zubar, taiwo, faty are all quality
some tips on french youngsters if you want are benzerga, saivet, costil, jourdren, degre vincent future worldstar, didier digard, menez, obertan from bordeaux, also one or two from monaco forgot their names though, accapandie from auxerre, kaboul, abenzoar from lyon , many many others ...
OK! finally got round to finishing my first season as i was diverted from FM for a wee while!

This was a real hard season, one of the hardest ive had on FM07 and it was a real refreshing challenge!
I was plagued by injuries throughout the whole season, at one point Nakamura, Nasri, Cisse and Taiwo all got injured at the same time for 4 weeks!!! and they were all my highest performers at the time!! very dissapointing.
also had to let go of Lucas as he broke his leg in the first few days of the transfer window closing!
I was able to bring in Nakamura on the last day and also managed to link up with JEF UTD of Japan so finances are great!
I brought in Flamini and Ratinho in the January window.
Signed a new contract in April and was given a transfer kitty of £24m which allowed me to tie up Kompany (£9m) + Anelka (£11m - split payments) + Stefan Fiore (free).
Nice surprise to be given a further transfer kitty of £24m when the season closed!!
busy trying to organise my team for 2007/08 so i'll report back when im happy.
and so i take it there aren't many Marsille managers out there?
