Ummm, thanks! I'm not actually sure what you're congratulating me for. Maybe I'm being dense here
With regard to the Administrators and debt... They're swine aren't they
Season 2006/07 Update
Things started so well for Chester in their first season of League football (at least under my control) - leaping to the top of the table with a 12 game unbeaten run, as the "We'll score more than you" approach caught the 3rd Division by storm.
Of course the lads - true to form and some poor management on my part - decided they didn't want any medals this year and then went on a 12 game streak without a win (during which we got battered by absolutely everyone).
Thankfully, a major tactical rehaul combined with a series of public boll0ckings for key players got our form up to something respectable and we picked up our form to something suitable for the top half of the table.
The tactical reshape allowed the midfielders to get forward more often, and one of them (actually one of the junkies brought in by the administrators last season) actually managed hattricks in two consecutive away games .
At one point in the last third of the season I thought we might make the playoffs, but two consecutive defeats saw that off till next season. Probably for the best too...
As usual, the Cup competitions were a waste of time for the boys - as we got battered from pillar to post in the first round of every one. Hopefully the tighter defensive tactics will see us further through the competitions next season as we are in dire need of money.
We currently stand at the £8.1m debt mark, with incomings this season of £1m and outgoings of £3m. Of those outgoings £1.5m was actually interest payments on the debt. Anyone remember my comment in another thread about 20% interest rates?
Thankfully the administrators didn't involve themselves in the transfer market this season, and I have adopted a new for old strategy for my transfer dealings. This mainly involves allowing unneeded players to leave, replacing squad players with the highest quality free transfers I can get my claws on and, finally, keeping the existing key players in the squad.
This strategy means no new key arrivals at Chester this season, and two non-players to leave the club at the end of their contract.
