Would it be classed as against LLM ethics to sign a certain well known (in most forums) portugese striker who appears to be lethal in the lower leagues?

Yes.
He is not real.
Anyway, you start every game with zero knowledge of all players. It would be ethical (just) to sign him if your scouts found him by following all the normal rules. However, all the baggage that surrounds this player makes him an absolute no-no.

Oh, and update to .68 (I assume you are playing 01/02) He doesn't exist in this update so your problem is solved.

I signed him once, in CMS mind you, and I'll probably never live that one down. I don't mind though, it sort of gives me a bad boy image that goes well with my hair.

As he doesn't exist, I'll leave him.
Can't update to .68 though as I'm playing a network game with a mate and I think it will mess up.. Leyton Orient here we come..
