Im just wondering if anybody has ever got his finishing up to around 20 as on my game rooney lacks in the finishing department also does anybody find this as noticeable as me when he tends to blast long shots over the bar VERY OFTEN just think how good he would be on this game if this aspect of his game was better!!!!!

In my game he has finishing as 18...

It seems realistic to me, as in real life he is not always the best of finishers, its his all around work that makes him the player he is...

thats weird on my game in fm 2008 hes got 16 for finishing!

The current ability varies from save game to save game for most players. If you were to start a new game now maybe he would have 17 or 18.

If he has potential to increase this attribute it will happen through training in that specific area.

he has 16 finishing on my game, sounds about right as hes no micheal own at finishing but how often does he get one on ones? do shots from outside the area or lobs count as good finishes or long shots and technique?

16 finishing in mine too.

However "composure" and "technique" are also vital for how good the player is at finishing. Rooney's technique is also great(19 in my game)means even his finishing is not the highest amoung strikers but his conversion rate is more or less the same.

Rooney started off with 17 in finishing for me. Halfway into the season he's 20
For him to not miss that often I recomend pushing defensive-training for strikers up to medium. He's overal the top-scorer in the EPL with 26 goals in 23 matches

There's a training bug? All my training scheduals are working like a charm... it's just a matter of picking the right combination for your style of play =/
And people tend to ignore defense training for striker, but they fail to realise that certain aspects of defence training, such as decisions are ignored.

Still confused, but felt like posting some extra due to my previous post which contained pretty much the crappiest english ever written

First of all at the start of the game Rooney has not reached his potential and he is under 24, if his stats improve, it may not be due to training but purely natural progression.

Secondly, I am pretty sure decisions is covered by tactics training, not defending. If you meant concentration, I have tested in 07 that a striker with a concentration of 1 can score 30 goals in 20 games.
