Default Employing an assistant manager

Why is it virtually impossible in this game(and previous versions) to employ an unemployed manager as an assistant? I realise the really big names like Jose Mourinho would never consider this but surely there are a few former managers that are currently out of a job that would consider becoming an assistant at least in the short term.

i tried this for ages !! i could never really place my finger on it either to be honest mate...

however i did manage to get paul jewel as a assistant on a £5,000 a week wage, and my whole team benefitted... i think you jsut have to keep tryin with different managers and see if the way they have their tactics are the same as yours aswell =]

I'm Man City and i have Steve Coterill and Paul Jewell on a joint role and i have reduced the number of coaches so the wage bill doesnt get too high.

How did your team benefit?

I look for a good coach (ie good star rating in one of the Training disciplines) with good Judging Player Potential and Judging Player Ability stats (for when I'm offering contracts and asking team reports).

What else is there to look for?

Working with Youngsters - for running the Youth team.
Motivation / Man management (?) for team talks (if you don't do them yourself)
Tactical Knowledge - for running the 1st team in holiday mode?

Any thoughts / advice?
