It happens now and then IRL, but in this game its extreme.

You're absolutely right, and you're absolutely wrong.
This is what really bugs me about one of the common complaints - I lose every time with a big team, it's so unrealistic!! Real life big teams don't!
Correct. Real life teams have managers who change things regularly. Look at Arsenal. Last season they lost over HALF their Premiership away games, dominating most of the matches but losing, which is precisely what you have described. So what happened? They changed their approach, combated the physical nature of the opponents, and improved.
To put it another way - some people are having a lot more joy than you with different tactics, which shows quite clearly that it can be done. I hate to bring up the old 'it's your tactics', but it's probably your tactics.
If a real life Liverpool manager saw a pattern in his losses, he wouldn't sit back and complain, he'd change his approach until he found something that worked.
Gone are the days when you can just pick a formation and play a whole season successfully using it, never tweaking the tactics partway through the game. And that's absolutely realistic.
If you don't think it can be done, try downloading one of the tactics in the tips forum. You might pick up some useful tips (I'm not enough of a tactical expert to give you tips myself, but I get by quite happily).
Oh, and Fowler's three and a half minute hattrick was against Arsenal. It happens.
