You make a lot of sense. And it could be possible. But it still doesn't explain how only I was bidding on him until he was added to my shortlist. I mean, you'd think I'd see some kind of bidding from another club on his transfer profile? Also, if AI clubs can see our short list... why can't we see theirs! (seriously I want to know what young talent Wenger is moving in for!

i totally agree, its always too much of a coincidence. maybe its a bug they could fix.

That or we could be allowed to see other club's shortlists.. I vote for the latter!

I noticed that the moment I scout a player, other teams start rushing in.

I havn't even made an official bid yet, so there should be no news. Now unless if my scout is wearing a massive sign that reads "Man Utd wants xxx", I can't understand why 10 clubs suddenly decides to bid.

I don't buy into the "well now you have shortlisted, you know who else is interested" explanation. Noone bidded for that player prior to me putting him on the shortlist. Then suddenly an explosion of bids.

It seems obvious that the AI is reading the player's shortlist and reacting. Shortlists should be hidden from the AI, otherwise the AI is simply cheating (ie bug).

Another thing I can't understand is why if I put a player on shortlist by scouting, my team pops up in the "interested" list of the player.

IRL, if you are looking at the player but not making a bid, that interest should be hidden from everyone, including the team that owns him.

It also annoys me that when I shortlist a player on a crappy contract, he suddenly gets a contract renewal with much better terms. He definitely would not have gotten that payrise if I didn't shortlist him.
