Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I'm asking because even though I have my passing and tempo on the lowest available... occasionally my players are still hitting long balls, if I set the forwards to rarely forward running will this decrease the long balls as the players won't be hitting it long trying to match the forwards runs.

Good question- it's worth a try. Always worth giving some creative freedom to players as if passing is set to short and there's no short option on, they'll wellie it upfield. Then they will hopefully use their own initiative to choose a longer pass. Hopefully.

Sounds like a good idea though if you want your strikers to play deeper and get involved more though.

i used the advice of a thread from a while ago, and typically i can't remember who by, but i know its on here, that obviously you fit the tactic to your players, not your players to your tactic.

Ex. If anyone on my team has 15+ for long range, and i mean any one including DC and DR/L then i will put it on often. 10-14 i put on mixed or for long shots instances sometimes i will just put rarely even if they are 10-14 and further back in the field.

If anyone has dribbling of 15+ i set to often again this is for anyone in the team, 10-14 is mixed anything else is rarely, again though you might decide that the player doesn't really need to be dribbling so just put to rarely.

After reading the thread i applied some of this knowledge to my current formation, and i went on a massive winning streak, but that was my experience. If someone knows the thread I'm talking about could they post the link.

Yeh players should get what they can do, and should get certain things for positions on the pitch.

fwd runs is diffrent. It goes with ur tactic, sorry but i cant see that playing a defensive tactic then having your fullback doing fwd runs often just because hes roberto carlos holds water.
