May i know what kind of instructions are best for attacking for a set piece like free kicks? i am using man utd and
i keep losing to chelsea through set pieces, aso wan to know how to defeat them.
pls advice, thank you
You asked for free-kicks, but I have success from corners more often, so i'll contribute there. I tend to have an attacker with high heading abillity (e.g. Saha) set to Near post flick on, with a couple of towering centre-halves challenging th keeper (e.g. Vidic and Rio). A shorter player who is still a threat in the box Attacks the Far post (e.g. Scholes), while another couple of players with aerial abillity attack ball from deep(e.g. Ronaldo). My corner taker distributes to near post. This means you get a near post flick-on, with 4 or 5 players waiting in the box, two of those obstructing the keeper, and absolute mayhem for the opposition's defence. Just incase, An attacker who is fairly poor in the air, but with a good long shot hovers outside the box (e.g. Rooney) and both full backs back if needed.

I tried this for about 1.5 seasons and only twice was there what I would call a flick on. 99.99% of the time whoever I set to do nearpost flickon would go for goal directly almost always missing whilst the 2 DC's supposed to be challenging the keeper would mill about aimlessly on the edge of the 6 yard box and those set to attack the post would mill about aimlessly nearer the 18yard line
If you want them "listen" to your intructions, then the max u can set to 1 position is 2. eg. you can only set rio and vidic to challange gk, if u set 3 (rio, vidic, giggs) to challange gk, they will all be cluelessly walking around
Get Ferdinand / Vidic to mark keeper and either one to attack near post. Get one more player with excellent heading ratings to flick the ball. My team scored crucial goals from set pieces.
