I've gone to quite a few threads and I seem to find the information scattered. So I'm going to, hopefully with your help, to put everything here. The goal is to create a detailed "How to" so that we can link this later. The manual does not cover this in detail. Personally I'm not very good in this as training has never been my forte in the game. But hopefully we can with the help of everyone put things together. There is a lot of information from people's threads, most notably SMSLs who actually listed out some PPMs.
Tutoring
This is the act of transferring knowledge from a senior player to a youth player. Its part of the whole training module and is a recently added module to the training engine. Its an interesting way for youngsters to pick up Player Preffered Moves {PPMs) which can be very helpful in deciding what kind of players to field in a tactic.
How do you tutor
To begin you need a senior player with a list of PPMs and a younger player. Is there a lower age limit for this?
Then go into a player's profile, click "Player Interaction", there's a section which asks whom he should tutor or for a youth player who he should learn from. Select a player and off you go.
Sounds easy in prinicple. Here's my question Can all players with PPMs tutor?I have Maniche in my squad with a long list of PPMs but he can't tutor anyone and he is an MC. I have 10 youth MCs and none of them can link up to him
The youth players will tutor from the senior players. Can they change who they learn from once they begin? I don't think so. Once they are linked I notice you can't reassign them or am I wrong on this?
PPMs
Player Preferred Moves are good to haves, but some aren't. There will be changes when the patch comes to tune these PPMs more so that their effects are more prominent.
The list compiled by SMSL includes:
Plays short simple passes - individual passing short
Marks opponents tightly - tight marking
Does not dive into tackles - easy tackling
Shoots from distance - long shots
Arrives late in opponents area - forward runs
Gets into opponents area - forward runs
Dives into tackles - hard tackling
Runs with ball down left/right/centre - Run with ball. Wink
Avoids using weaker foot - target for keeping on weaker foot???
Hits free-kick with power - free kick taker?
Plays with back to goal - Hold up ball.
Comes deep to get ball - ?
Dictates tempo - playmaker???
Likes ball played to feet - ?
Argues with officials - ?
Gets crowd going - ?
Tries to play way out of trouble - ?
Uses outside of foot - ?
Looks for pass rather than attempt to score - ?
Hugs line - ?
Shoots with power - ?
Winds up opponents - ?
Tries tricks - ?
Cuts inside - ?
Plays 1-2s - ?
Moves into channels - ?
Likes to try to beat offside trap - ?
Knocks ball past opponent - ?
Dwells on ball - ?
Tries first time shots
Knowing a PPM can help with tactics like Karan mentions:
omes deep to get ball - if a striker, can give a lower mentality than the other striker so he comes deep and links up the play
tries tricks - rwb if high dribbling as well
knocks ball past opponent - rwb if high pace, acceleration and first touch
likes to beat offside trap - forward runs if high pace off the ball and anticipation
plays 1-2s - short passing perhaps? and forward runs?
moves into channels - side arrow on striker?
dictates tempo - defo a candidate for a playmaker if hes got good passing, decisions and creativity as well
Effective Mentoring
From what I have gathered in the threads, haze.13 seems to feel that if " player x feels he is similar to player y", then the PPM will be learnt and if the players don't have this similarity no tutoring will take effect. Another thing, although some people have said that only players in the same position can tutor one another...i would limit it to players in the same role, ie. defenders and defenders, fullbacks and fullbacks. There are rightfullbacks who have picked up another left fullbacks running down the left. Its more a typo, what the PPM means is that the player likes to run down the flanks.
This information can be found in the "Personal Information screen of a player"
Signing Crap old Players
When I sign a player how do I know there are players similar to him to make things work? I hope someone can answer this so we can add on here.
There are some senior players who never get a chance to mentor, I wonder why?
There are cases where players will learn bad PPMs as well, there are quite a few bad PPMs in the game and there is a chance a player will pick up bad habits too.
Current logged Bugs
I tried getting one player to learn from another but got this message that "he wouldn't be taking up the offer and feels he would be better suited to developing his own game with the help of training and match practice." The younger player was still learning from the senior player despite not wanting to. This issue has been logged.
I know I have shamelessly taken things from other threads, but I really can't find all the information in 1 place.
Even experienced players are confused about the PPMs and I want this thread to be a focal point for discussion. Lets come together right now over this.

Looking at the players description and stats are a good indication. If he has simliar stats then hes going to be a simliar type of player. By this I mean maybe both players have high mental attributes etc.
I also only let the stars of my team mentor, due to the fact I don't want players picking up bad habits. No point letting someone who isn't upto the standard of the youth player mentor him, thats just wrong
It's not just PPMs , there is an option to "transfer" an old player mental attributes too, i think. My main issue with this part of the game is knowing what option does what
Also, since my latest game with Benfica, i think this also takes into account the state of your training facilities. Might just be a placebo, but at least with Benfica, all my youngsters were saying they were unsure of what they could learn from the FirstTeam player i had selected for them.
On my Milan game, it never happened
There is a bug when the player that is tutoring the youngster leaves, the youngster keeps flagged as learning from the player for some time.
Ah, no .. you can't reassign them after you linked them with someone.

The player interaction has 3 options for tutorial, i think: X player is ideal role model, learn X player approach to the game and learn from X player.
From what i read on the Game Discussion forum, each one does a different thing (one is for PPMs, other for Mental attributes, another ..err..i dont know )
I think that Dives into tackle means that player often dives, not that he likes to tackle.
Usualy lightweight players have that PPM while big ones have Doesn't dive.
I just hought that would it be better for a player to learn from a "model professional"? Does this mean they could have a more professional approach to the game?
