You're probably right about FR/L though, as this doesn't even show on the positions screen, so it would be reasonable to assume that an AMR/L must be the type of player that can play there. You did used to get FR/L players in previous versions, I remember that much.

Yes it is. It doesnt matter what rating an AMRL has for MRL, they'll perform equally well.

Any AMRL can play in MRL, though the reverse is not true. If an MRL doesnt have an AMRL rating, he cant play there, or FRL. AMRL can play in all three.
ST dont play in FRL.

It makes no sense that they can play as well in that position if they have a lower rating, or don't have a rating for it at all.

I can play a DR/L in MR/L and sometimes he will do okay, but to say he's going to play as well as a natural MR/L... poppycock.

What data and why days? Do as I said. Use FMM and try for yourself using the assman teamreport. Note how many stars a player gets with different kind of position ratings.

Take Chelsea for example and use Robben. Use FMM and give him a 20 rating for ML and nothing else. load a 4-4-2 and ask for the team report. Robben will be picked with 4-5 stars. Then move the ML to AML in the tactics. Robben wont be picked anymore.
Then remove Robbens ML rating and add 20 for AML. Check the team report, Robben will be picked again with the same amount of stars. Move the AML back to ML in the tactics and once again check the team report. Once again, Robben will be piced with the same amount of stars.

Once you've done that, you can come back and I'll have the pie ready for you to eat.

If you're too ignorant however to still not believe it after that, go ask Cleon.

I played with welling and Matt Bodkin AMR/FC was picked for DR in ASSMAN recommendation, over another DR that I had in the team, and he doesn't even have DR as one of his playable positions. What does that prove?

Over scouting, team recommendation, and team picking, the assistant manager CONSTANTLY contradicts who he thinks is the best player in each position, who should be in the team, and who is the best player when comparing with a scouted player. I don't see that as conclusive proof myself.

The proof lies in how the player plays in the position... ie. ratings over a full season. That will take a few days to compile.

I hardly think I'm being ignorant. I'm prepared to back up what I think with some concrete evidence. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it and apologise. If I'm not wrong, I don't give a toss about oneupmanship, it's all for the benefit of understanding.

And last time I looked, Cleon didn't write the game engine. He's got wads of experience yeah, but his word aint gospel either. No offence to the guy.

You know what your problem is? You play with Welling. Your assman sucks. I play with Chelsea and I have the best staff possible (not the default ones) and I can tell you one thing, they are very reliable.

If Robben gets 5 stars in an ML position and AML when he only has a rating for AML, but just 1-2 stars for AML when he only has a rating for ML, then what does that tell you? Seems pretty conclusive to me.

Much the same, an AMRL doesnt lose effectiveness in FRL, whereas an ST does.
