Recently I was playing with a diamond 4-4-2 and as you know the formation is quite wide and leave lots of space, however my plan was to play slow tempo and short passing to keep possession, and to create more clear chances. I've switched to flat (normal) 4-4-2 so that the spaces between midfielders wasnt that big. Then I noticed that my wingers arent playing as they're supposed to (eg good wingers like Simao or Petrov are getting 6 and 7 without creating any good chances). So here's my question because I think that all: passing, tempo and width are related;
Is it possible to play wide with short passes and slow tempo ? Does this increase chance of getting the ball intercepted before it gets to the sides ?
I set tempo on the first notch of slow, and passing on the first notch of short.
