Not much new in the Croatian league. After the before mentioned 14th place my team Zagreb finished 10th the season after and was on 13th place the following year 3 games before the finish line.

This was the moment when mighty Hajduk sacked their manager after a long time because they were only 3rd and offered me the position as manager.

Well, since this was the goal I aimed for in this savegame I accepted. I will see if I can win a title at last before I finish this save game.

I guess, I won't win anything and will get sacked soon

Hey, at least you'll get sacked from a big club. That counts a lot mroe than getting sacked from nobodies.

Sacked. After only 17 games in the new season I was relieved of my position. It seems as if I wasn't the favourite choice of a manager at Hajduk.

Things didn't start well from the first moment on. Directly after I was appointed the board pushed me into signing some crappy DC (The board think, blabla would be a very useful addition to the squad), so I signed him to satisfy then. But then they even wanted that I would play this guy!

I brought him in for a couple of games, but since he was the worst player of all (averaged only 6.33 instead of above 7.00 like the others) I removed him from the first team squad again. Well, the board didn't like to see this.

At the point of my sack my team had won 9, managed 4 draws and lost four times, scoring 28, conceding 12. Not so bad at all, but the board had kinda unrealistic views. I had no real chance to compete against Osijek and Rijeka, both full of cash from the Champions League.

I'll see if I will find a new job some day in the league.

I played a couple of seasons again in this savegame, so it's time to update this thread a bit.

After I was relieved from the manager position at Hajduk, it took only 3 months until I found a new job. It was NK Kamen Ingrad in the 2nd Div North. Lots of debt, a couple of nice players - sounds promising, I thought. The last 6 games of the season brought 2W and 4D, so I was quite confident that I could achieve a respectable league position the year after.

Of course (as so often) I was wrong. My top three players were lured away either on their min release clause fee or on bosmans. None of them wanted to sign a new contract with the club. The scouts didn't find adequate replacements in the short time of only 4 months and so I had a bad feeling about the things to come.

This time I wasn't mistaken, and Kamen Ingrad lost their first 4 games in the league. Changing tactics to a more defensively oriented playing style didn't work either, and after 10 of 30 games played the team was ranked last, having only 2 points.

I switched tactics again, hoping that the sweeper in the squad would be able to help me, if he was able to play within a tactic better suited to him. It helped a bit, and results improved soon. But the day after I reached a non-relegation spot, I was fired.

Unemployed again. Fired after 11 months. What did the board expect? The best players were gone and the club was that much in debt that I wasn't even able to pay some of the youth players who wanted to sign. Well, better luck next time maybe.

Exactly one month after I was sacked, I had a new job. From Division 2 North I went to Division 2 South, to Graficar Vodovod. They were sitting 12th in the table, and the last games in the season brought the team to a final place of 8th.

Unfortunately it seemed, that the Graficar Vodovod board had heard of my skills at managing Kamen Ingrad so well without the money, so they demanded from me European Qualification

I think most of the boards here in Croatia are a bit weird, and I have the feeling that it gets worse the longer you play (I'm in season 2018/19)

Sacked again.
Reason: Failed to achieve European Qualification.

The team stayed clear of relegation all of the time although every single player went unhappy after 3 or 4 games. Every time when they lost a game, the supporters went on a fury and everytime when they won a game, I vanished again from the Job Insecurity list.

My reputation in Croatia went down from 4th (when I was appointed Manager of Hajduk) to 36th after this sack. I fear, that I won't find a new job anymore but I promise that I'm going to fight for my right

As I had feared, the only job I was asked to do was to be manager of newly promoted Mladost (C). They played in the usual no-league grey and black kits, and I have to admit that there are only few things I hate that much as these colors.

The team started with only 3 players, no chairman (!), no assistant manager, no coach, no scout but only a physio. I hired a 63 year old scout who retired after 3 weeks - after only finding a couple of youngsters, all having only 2 or 3 stars.

After 11 games, my balance was 0-1-10, scoring 5, conceding 28 . Blame the greyed-out players playing in grey for that!

During the winter break I was able to hire a new scout who found several additional players. Team form improved a lot, and after the 29th playing day we had the chance to avoid relegation. Well, short story: we lost, the others won 5-1, and relegation.

Going to find another job now :p
