Lets take the fat Geordie kebab-eater and the right footed poofland god that went down through the leagues as our examples.
These guys are the exception, not the rule. But in my old NVic save, most club's had 3 or 4 of these old codgers. They were everywhere, That is unrealistic in my opinion.
We are still striving for realism aren't we?

you say buying ex international playes for the lower leagues wont happen, well at bangor city they have an ex man utd striker as manager,an ex welsh international dcm from man utd,and also got an ex man utd winger for the season.
so it does work, just look at barry who have a guy whos 1 of the directors there (going onto tv to get out of a jungle) who has got a goalkeeper from the nigerian national team to play for them.
if they wont to play for you why not give them a chance?

Exactly my point earlier. I was replying to the point made by Reks btw. I think that this has to be addressed at the programming level as well.
It should be maybe 3 or 4 ex-internationals, every season, maybe less, would be willing to slog it out in the Conference.
Perhaps, because they want to become managers and realise the need to start at the bottom like us, or simply for the love of the game.
But not the numbers that we are presently seeing.

I actually find it quite hard to find non-nationals who want to sign for you at the end of their career. Same nationality/British Isles happens quite often though.
I'll reiterate that I agree with Rek. If the game says that a player wants to sign for a club at your level then why shouldn't you attempt to sign them. Whether you can match their contract demands (on 01/02 at least) is another matter entirely.

I'm disappointed.
It's not the case that LLM's becoming filled with rules, the only rules are in the Forum Header.
Guidlines, on the other hand, are constantly being asked for. The Guidlines given out by Taips and myself are always based upon the way we play the game, for example, the SWYCT and only sign players found by your scouts guidline.
If you go this way you won't be tempted by unrealistic signings as your scout won't find them.
This isn't unrealistic. It's not deliberately hobbling yourself, it's playing the game as realistically as the game allows.
It's entirely possible to be successful using those guidlines, have a look at any of my updates.
What really disappoints is the flagrant use of excuses for using methods that have never, and never will be in my opinion, within the LLM Ethos.
A couple of guys have managed to completely change my opinion of them with regards to LLM. It's obvious that many view LLM through a vastly different window than I do.
Signing a plethora of Internationals for Conference Clubs isn't LLM. Your scouts won't find them, an £80k p/w International won't sign a £350 p/w contract for Burton - even as player/assistant manager - it's all crap.
Finally to the guys who say it's legit because the game lets you do it. Try this.
Don't ask whether the game will let you sign a player, ask yourself whether you should. The answer you give will tell you a lot about yourself.

It all comes down to judgement. IRL, would a 34-year old ex-Italian international just released from £80k p/w at Juve opt to end his career at Leigh RMI?

If it's a case such as that quote describes where a player goes straight from Big Club A to Crap Club B then I agree it is unrealistic. But, if a player has been floating around the lower leagues of your country for the past few years, is out of contract, and looking for a new club I don't see the problem with it.

It happens, but infrequently enough to be huge news when it does.
As a matter of fact I was struck by the number of former EPL players playing for Lower League Clubs when the FA Cup was extensively covered by the BBC in the early rounds, including several live games involving Conference Clubs.
Without exception, however, they were Journeyman players who'd never made the grade in the EPL, and were almost exclusively English.
I doubt if we'll ever see the Brazilian buck-toothed slayer of ManUre playing for Leigh RMI.

That's one of the reasons why CM4's taken a back burner at my house.
One good point is that you get youth players promoted to your U-18/19's, regardless of how poor the Team is.
Hopefully in a future patch, SORRY, Enhancement Pack |
